Vanilla essential oil question

Hello All,

In searching for vanilla absolute, I have come across

vanilla " essential oil " which upon further investigation

is listed as 10 fold. It seems that this is just a concentrated

vanilla extract, and I'm wondering how it works in soaps,

room sprays, and potpourri mixes.

Would appreciate hearing from those who have used

it in these ways.

Thanks very much,

Holly

Hi Holly,

There is no vanilla " essential oil " to my knowledge. I suspect your

investigation finding it to be a concentrate is correct.

I have dealt with the vanilla concentrates before (I carry a 32 fold one

on my site actually). All of the vanilla concentrates I've come across

with are suspended in glycerin, so they are a water based product. It

does work well in soap, unlike Vanilla Absolute which is alcohol based

and does not work in soap.

You will not get that super " Yankee Candle " type vanilla smell out of

it. Its more like something you can use in a blend to add a warm vanilla

note - for example mixing it with orange to get a " dreamsicle " type

scent.

I personally very much like having Vanilla Concentrate in my " Aromatic

Pantry " :)
