Did Oil of O save the chickens?

This is NOT meant as an official

admonition to take E.O.s orally, or

to stay away from vets.

It is just something that happened.

Shortly after I took the chicks off

their medicated feed, after they

had nicely feathered out, the meat

birds started to get sick and die.

The mixed breed, which doesn't get

as big but is sturdier, seemed fine.

( I tried a mixed bunch this year)

Now in the past I have always added

a bit of H2O2 to their drinking water.

We have lost birds to any predator

you can think of, from skunks to dogs

to hawks to grizzlies, but never to disease.

It freaked me out to find a dead bird almost

daily, and to see new ones standing around

looking glassy with their feathers all ruffled,

knowing they were next.

Then we figured out the H202 might have

lost its potency. So I started adding just

one drop of Butch's magical germ fighter

to each gallon container of drinking water.

The birds stopped dying a few days later

and continued to live to maturity.

They are now resting peacefully in the

freezer. Of course I can't prove anything

but I am convinced the oil of O did the trick.

Butch, if you're ever around, come for

chicken dinner.
