Guest guest
Greetings! I've been an avid lurker here for several months now and really love this resource...learning many wonderful things and I thank you all for the generous sharing of knowledge & experience. I have had no formal training in the use of eos but have been reading tons of books and doing online research. My original interest was for the benefit for my five rescue mutts--natural flea/tick preventatives, sprays to assist in skin allergic reactions, etc., with the intent to avoid prescription drug therapies that weren't helpful anyway. It's been working out great for us but now I'm here asking for advice on another matter. My mother, 62 years old and diagnosed with stage four appendiceal cancer was given six months to live almost three years ago now. With the help of glyconutrients, she's been in remission (they promised she wasn't a candidate for that) for 2 1/2 years, however they still have her on chemotherapy for some reason, and won't consider taking her off it until next year. Great news is she isn't even a little sick--even the chemo doesn't take her down. She's got loads of energy and looks a good ten years younger than she is--is putting in ten joyful hours a day in her garden and is in the best shape ever. I was visiting her early this year and she started using a coconut oil/essential oil blend that I whipped up for myself. She kept it, used it up and asked if I would make her some more, which I did, and here's what I used: 8 ounces virgin coconut oil 10 drops Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis) 10 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) 10 drops Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) 5 drops Clary Sage(Salvia sclarea) 10 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract Now she is hounding me for more...just loves the stuff, says it makes her skin look better than it has in years and years and years. Since then, of course, I've been reading more here and have better knowledge that eos can do as much harm as good if not used correctly and I sure don't want to take her down with essential oils of all things, given what she's been through. I thought it might be a good idea to check with you to see if any warning bells go off. I'd like to make another quart of this blend for her --do any foresee any potential issues with these ingredients? Are the eo's diluted enough? Or, are there other eos that might be beneficial for her? My thoughts are that since she's been using it for 3-4 months, with only positive benefits it should be OK, but then I'm as amateur as they come so I don't want to make any assumptions and would very much appreciate any advice or warnings you feel appropriate. Thank you, Kimberly Oakland, CA
