Hey everyone- I was recently on vacation, and my niece (whose mother

is an estetician specializing in botox and the like) had this lip gloss

with her called Stung. It is supposed to naturally plump your lips.

Well, I stupidly put it on, without looking at ingredients. First it

tingled, then it BURNED! it felt like there were 1000 tiny needles in

my lips. I was dying. Sure enough, mylips did plump, but the pain was

bad! I learned all sorts of variations of this stuff are sold all

over! I must be out of the loop. The ingredients were avacado oil,

cassia, cinnamon, ginger, wintergreen and clove, with some other

stuff. Isn't it a bad idea to use that stuff repeatedly? Not to

mention the pain they go to for FULL lips? What are your thoughts on

this?

[Dave:] If it hurts, it’s because your body is telling you something. I

think it’s ridiculous what people do to look “good.”

Hey Joy,

One of my friends have told me... " sometimes beauty is painful " this was as

we were waxing our legs.

I told her that if I needed that much pain in my life, I would have been

born during the Inquisition...

That being said. Anytime you use a sensitizer like Cassia oil it will cause

a burn. Try clove oil and it will numb your lips. The reason being is

Cassia is a rubifacient and a vasodilator meaning it brings blood to the

surface, if the lip gloss is of no color you will probably notice that your

lips become a bit more red when you use it.

Anytime you use a sensitizer too much you can cause adverse reactions..

(you can actually make yourself allergic) Just ask some of the people on

this list that have been up to their elbows in lavender, and the reactions

they have.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

These products work by irritating your skin. The cinnamon and clove

are literally burning your lips. The wintergreen on the other hand is

sometimes used as a topical anaesthetic. Personally, I don't see the

appeal of fat, irritated lips. Maybe they appear more " kissable " , but

if the stuff burns you, it's going to burn whoever you kiss too. Also,

you are ingesting the stuff too.

[Dave:] I figure if God didn’t make us all look like Barbie and Ken, He

probably had a reason, so why try to redo what He already did so well? Ya

know, I figure we didn’t actually get kicked out of the garden. We just

decided that we could improve it. Look around. You can see the results.
