Guest guest
Hi Jan, Kim .. other good folks .. Old one .. from 21 July. (snipped a bit) > I want to find out which oregano is used for fungal killing. My > manicurist uses oregano oil for fungal retardation on nails. I > would like to know if anyone is doing a study of the effect of > oregano oils on the actual fungus in the toe problem. As you and many other folks who've been on the list a while know, I have a few hundred studies on the use of Origanums for this and that .. I do do not have that many " he said that she said that their cousin had good results from this or that " type studies. As often as I can, I prefer to report facts rather than market products. I believe that .. in time, credibility in marketing will take care of itself if one avoids hype in marketing. There are many credible studies to support use of various EO for curing or temporary relief from various Big Bad Bugs .. as well as emotional issues. As for permanent results on nail fungus, I know of no CREDIBLE studies that support or even suggest use of any essential oil for PERMANENT relief of nail fungus. There are many claims to be found for use of Tea Tree and Oregano .. but its my opinion that the results of such treatment is, at best, temporary .. the fungus will return. There are claims of home remedies .. lots of extrapolation, marketing disguised as results .. and lots of rumor .. but nail fungus continues to be a problem .. http://www.nail-fungus.org/home-remedy.html My opinion is that one should consult a physician .. take a prescription medication to cure the fungal condition. Odds are the physician will require periodic blood tests to ensure no harm to the liver. But they can cure the problem. > I understand that there is a drug that is very expensive to take > internally but it is a drastic treatment. Internal treatment is the efficient method .. the roots of nail fungus run deep .. oils and other applied cremes, etc., have great difficulty penetrating the nail and getting to the " root " of the problem. However, if one wants to have the nail surgically removed .. such treatments have a history of success .. and in time (a long time) a healthy nail will grow back to replace the missing one. Meantime .. it would probably be a bit painful. > Any advice and knowledge would be appreciated. > Jan Young I'll post a few studies on the results of natural products (mainly Oregano) for various fungi and yeast. Hi Kim, > I was recently referred to Oregano Vulgare for internal use for fungal > infections. I am trying to rid my toenails of a fungal infection I > have had for years and can't seem to get rid of it completely. My opinion .. if you've had it for years .. you'll likely keep it till you go under snakes unless you seek proper treatment from a medical doc. Ingestion of Origanums (not only Origanum vulgare) has benefits for some problems .. as well as potential dangers. As for nail fungus .. there are no credible studies to support relief from such use. > Someone suggested fighting it from the inside. Which I have never > done before. So I figure its worth a try. Perzackly .. you gotta fight it from the inside .. as I laid out above. > Does anyone have any advice for me in using this product? Yes .. use Origanums for many things .. but don't sit around waiting for them to kick butt on nail fungus. I sell Origanums .. I'm a major supplier of wild grown Origanums to folks in 50 states and 87 countries .. if I believed you could get results against nail fungus from use of Origanum .. I would damn sure not be making this post. > Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. > Thanks, Kim Welcome fer'shur .. consider seeing a doc. Or .. be prepared to likely continue to have the fungus. :-( Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
Hi Folks, On the topic of nail fungus. I spoke with a podiatrist about this issue a while back and he stated many cases can be cured by trimming back the nail, filing down the fungus and applying a topical fungal treatment or by soaking feet for 20 minutes in a 10% bleach solution every 2 weeks. Personally I feel a bit leary about the bleach but I have noted that many cases of nail fungus start at the tip of the nail and proceed back. It would depend on the severity of the fungal infection I had. If it was realitively mild I definately would consider self treatmentand would be willing to try multiple different treatments but if my nail was pushed up too high off the naildbed too far back (subjective I know) I would talk to a doctor. Best of luck, Carol
