Guest guest
Hi Kristena, > Aromatherapy, herbs, natural living, etc. That was an intersting > read and I beleive sadly it to be true for the most part. True .. but its also obvious that the writer has a bone to pick with the pharmaceutical industry .. so he's probably going to accentuate the negative and disregard the positive. This is (unfortunately) a rule rather than an exception when human critters take pen to hand. > But one of the statesments presented were that some things were promoted > by the DTC and science disproved it. But what was the scientific proof > to cancer and diabetes? Certainly diabetes possibly could be avoided by > some people but others I jsut don't know. Some are born with a problem. No question that in time .. they will learn that many (most?) diseases that affect mankind today are to some degree genetic. That is, some are born with the propensity .. or maybe a high percentage of chance of acquiring a particular disease .. where others aren't. And, of course, lifestyle will play a major part in leveling the field to some degree. My mother was a chain smoker from age 17 to 84 when she died. She (and I) never had less than 300 cholesterol .. and she (and I) routinely had/have 120/80 BP. > Same with cancer. I am a healthy living woman who was diagnosed this year. Sorry to hear that .. and we all hope you kick it in the butt. :-) > My FIL who is a former Christian minister was just diagnosed with prostate > cancer. This is a man that has been healthy all his life, becasue of religious > reasons would not drink any alcohol or smoke and he eats incredibly healthy. Good that is .. except maybe total avoidance of alcohol. I think its pretty well accepted that moderate drinkers have a far better chance of avoiding many problems than do excessive drinkers .. or teetotalers. > He walks everyday and had active sex well into his late 70's. Sounds to me like he is a very strong man .. who will find it easier to kick the problem than would some others. I have a 69 year old friend in Georgia who has always been a moderate drinker, non-smoker, exercise nut ... like walking 3 hours a day for many years now .. who kicked cancer in the butt last year .. and this fellow also had/has an active sex life. > And the head of our local organic food warehouse a couple years ago was > diagnosed with a rare form of MS. He advocated healthy living and still > was overcome with this. No question that we can find exceptions to anything written .. and when we get into MS we are talking many different types .. few of which have known causes .. but all of which are suspected to have some basis for becoming critical due to environmental conditions. > I don't like the big pharma truth, as Butch has presented, but I think > certainly sometimes drugs will prolong the life in some people. And that > if one must turn to drugs for help, and they truly feel it is what they > should do, there should be no shame in that. Totally agree .. and I think most folks on this list will also agree. We have quite a few cancer survivors on this list. There is no question that there is a need for medications .. and research .. and I believe there are some researchers out and about who are dedicated to finding cures rather than just fitting the pegs in the right holes for their employers (the Big Pharma types) .. but I also believe that there should be oversight and more control on the pharmaceutical companies .. and there should be a clamp down on their price gouging. And .. the FDA should be manned and held to task for what it was created to do .. as it is now, they have relinquished much of their responsibility .. handed it over to Big Pharma. > But I hope none of us will be faced with a choice as such. Good Lawd Willing .. but if so, then may they overcome. > Blessings > -Love and Light- > Ray and Kristena Roder > http://www.dreamseeds.org And to you and yours. :-) Butch
