Hi y'all,

Wonder if Carob would fit the bill? It tastes VERY MUCH like Chocolate

and its found in most every country. Its called " Keci Bornuz " (Goat

Horn) here in Turkey .. normally used to feed stock in the winter .. but

its also ground and used to make hot drinks and to flavor desserts.

And .. its dirt cheap .. at least it is here.

Michelle is correct. One may want to weigh any benefits of using

synthetic sweeteners with the potential risks.

Stevia is a safe alternative sweetener to look into. The herb has also

been shown to have potential benefits for diabetics too!

[Dave:] Two other natural sweeteners are agave syrup and xylitol. I know

agave syrup is safe for diabetics, and I am 90% sure that xylitol is, but

I’d double-check.

========Some of you may not know that 10 years ago, the FDA claimed that

Stevia interferred with a woman's reproductive cycle -- even suggesting

fertility. I'm not a fan of the FDA, but I did some research and found that

native populations did and still do use Stevia for birth control. I haven't

checked on it since, so I don't know where the FDA stands on that claim now.

Nor was I able to learn just how affective the herb was as a birth control

measure within the native populations. Hoax? Not likely. I think the FDA

probably had real concerns, considering its historical. I have no idea if

the FDA continued to study or watch the herb.
