Guest guest
Hi Kristena, > That is interesting that you had to do so much to get Tanya to be > able to come. Its really logical .. lots of paperwork but very logical .. and there is another requirement now .. since 9/11 .. that if a person is issued an Immigrant Visa based on marriage .. and they've not been married for two years when it's issued, the sponsor (husband of wife) that is a US citizen must file a form with the INS within 90 days of the second anniversary of the marriage. This is good because it closes one loop hole they found when trying to trace down illegals .. many folks had married for money .. then divorced. There were many marriage shops .. primarily in Asia .. that were paying Americans to marry folks just to get them into the USA. > What I don't get is how do illegals get the medicaid benefits when > they are here, but Tanya cannot get anything for 5 years. Did I > understand that correctly? Any benefits given (through legislation) to illegals is for political gain of those who must go on record as having supported it. Matters not to them what is right or wrong .. matters only that their constituency sees them supporting legislation that they desire. So its almost always localized support. Find a state with less than 1% Mexican or whatever and you're likely to find a senator or representative(s) that will not support such a bill. Tanya has full benefits now .. she became entitled to them when we entered the USA on 5 July .. her Immigrant Visa is her entry document into and out of the USA until 5 July 2011 .. at which time, she can apply for US Citizenship and a US Passport. This 5 year wait is also a good thing. If a person with an Immigrant Visa commits certain crimes during that 5 years .. they are supposed to lose their acquisition rights and are subject to deportation. For sure the lax court system sometimes fails to follow through .. but its the judges who are at fault .. not the INS system. > (and I am not saying she would, I am scratching my head wondering > why there is a difference in the governments eyes) One route is following the established system .. the other route is politicians trying to whitewash their intent by legitimizing those who circumvented the system. Companies prefer illegal labor because its cheaper .. they make more profit. Claims that they can't find labor are often untrue .. though they can't find labor for the same salaries they are paying now. One good example was in Stillmore, GA last week. The INS started looking at records of employees in the Crider, Inc., Chicken Plant .. last May. They asked those who were flagged to produce some form of documentation showing they entered the USA legally. Last week they carted off more than 100 workers who had not produced documentation. Management of the company is crying the blues as they were going to have to close .. but .. they raised the hourly wage from $6.75 to $7.75 and were overwhelmed with applications from legal residents .. many of them left Walmart and the $5.60 an hour they were receiving there. This was reported in an Associated Press article yesterday. Gummits (worldwide) turn their head at the hiring of illegals .. same goes here in Turkey where many illegals come in to work for 90 days on a Tourist Visa .. then go out of country for 24 hours and return to their job. Difference between hiring illegals here and in the USA is that here they are hiring folks who have technical skills that are short in Turkey .. in the USA, illegals are almost always hired because they are cheap labor. The Gummit MUST crack down on the business owners who hire illegals .. they are causing problems for lots of folks. They hire illegals and then from time to time the illegals are deported .. which in most cases is worse than if they had not had a job to begin with. On the other hand, they depress the economy in their own town by hiring illegals rather than the US citizens in that town. Contrary to what many would have us think .. lots of healthy folks who are now sitting on their asses would go to work if they were offered a decent wage. Granted, if they are healthy they are not too responsible for sitting on their asses in the first place .. but the Gummit is also irresponsible for creating situations where its in their best interests to sit on their asses .. the Gummit is (in many cases) giving fish rather than teaching fishing. Some say there is no way for an employer to determine if a worker is an illegal .. and that's often the case because there are sources for counterfeit documents in the USA .. some of these sources are run by foreign government embassies in the US. But there are ways to determine legality .. and there are easy changes to the system that could be effected that would make counterfeiting damn near impossible. I defy anyone to counterfeit the Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card) .. often called the " Green Card. " Its technology with a twist. ;-) > What about the babe? Any trouble there? Alexander is an American citizen .. has his own passport. :-) He is not a dual citizen .. neither Turkish or Russian. He could not be a Turkish citizen because we are both here on visitor status .. and to become a Russian citizen he would have to go through one heckuva lotta expense and bureaucratic crap .. but there are no advantages to him having Russian citizenship so that's not a viable option anyway. > Blessings > -Love and Light- > Ray and Kristena Roder > http://www.dreamseeds.org Y'all have a good one .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
