I finally got to check this out!

Rather timely since all over the news is " first case of flu confirmed in

Houston this week - get your shots now! " and my kid's school is having

$20 flu shot day for the community this week! ;-p

Thanks for passing it along Michelle!

No thanks!! We don't get the shots and we don't get the flu.

And how do *they* know which strand of the flu will affect any/everyone??

Washing hands and the like works for us:O)

Hi Loree,

First, did y'all get snow??

Next, funny you mention that about hand washing ..

Yesterday I was reading an article in Entrepreneur magazine and they

were talking to the guy who makes " Squid Ink " soap for kids .. It

squirts a wash off dye onto the kids hands before they wash and they

have to wash up long enough to get the ink off, which is how long they

are supposed to properly wash their hands.

He got the idea when he was doing something in some third world country

and they had a bucket outside the tent and everyone had to wash in what

was basically some tea of a poisonous plant or something like that - to

remove the germs from the hands .. And it struck him that they totally

got the concept of how cleaning/disinfecting hands properly is a way to

prevent illness and many times in their case, save lives!

So - now that I've gone off on a tangent - the point was - I agree ...

just wash your hands a bunch as great prevention for colds, the flu,

diarrhea, etc ... Oh, and forgo the antibacterial triclosan soaps - use

artisan handmade soap and keep your hands soft and clean without

creating " super bugs " ! ;)

When I was at our county fair this year, I noticed, at the petting

zoo area, they had signs up telling people to be sure to wash their

hands with soap and water afterwards (they had handwashing areas set

up right there). They said to soap up and rub your hands together

long enough to sing " Happy Birthday " twice. I thought that was a

great idea, seeing as most people seem to just run their hands

through the water for a split second and then head for the towels

when " washing " their hands. I don't think the split-second method

does much good at all!

Karen :)

I can't do video, it takes too long on

dial-up, but noticed this link went to

the good old Royal Canadian Air Farce!

We used to follow them avidly way back

when they were on radio.

Apart from the universal (it ain't perfect

but its there) health care the quality of

comedy is one thing that makes Canada

a great place to live. Entertainers are

one of our main export products.
