Guest guest
A friend of mine is trying to make a lotion using shea butter and herb infused olive oil and is not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have an easy recipe for this? Thanks in advance! Guest guest
Any formula for lotion will work. Butters and oils (infused with herbs or not) + water + emulsifier + preservative. (+other ingredients or not) If you need lotion formulas there are plenty of them on the web. Guest guest
Here's a basic lotion recipe I picked up on the internet somewhere. Basic Body Lotion Phase I / Water 76% Distilled Water • 2% Glycerin Phase II / Oils • 2% Stearic Acid • 5% Emulsifying Wax NF • 9% Oils of Choice • 4% Butters of Choice Phase III / Preservative • 1% Preservative of choice • 1% Fragrance/Essential Oils Instructions: Sterilize your equipment. Heat water and oils separately. Heat to 176 degrees and hold for 20 minutes. Try to leave the lid on, as the water will evaporate. In a separate pot, heat additional water and hold for 20 minutes. Now weigh the original container and add the extra distilled water to make up for any of the lost water due to evaporation. When both phases are at 176 degrees pour the Oil into the Water. Pour slowly and while the mixer is stirring your batch. Continue stirring till the mixture reaches 110 degrees. When the mixture reaches 110 degrees, add the final phase. Continue stirring and once cooled, add to your containers.
