Guest guest
Last night here in the UK there was a fascinating TV prog about the man-made chemicals that occur in blood of children. They took samples from 3 x 12 year old girls who lived in very different circumstances. One lived on junk food in a town, one a reasonably healthy diet and the last one was the daughter of a couple who lived exclusively on OG food and ran a shop in the country selling natural goods. The results were amazing and disturbing. The girl from the OG fed family had higher levels of some of the chemicals than the other girls in the study. Her parents had done everything they could think of to reduce the burden of chemicals on their children and clearly it had not worked. They had even moved from London to the country. All the girls had fire retardant chemicals in their blood which may have come from household furnishings. So that is food for thought even if you feed your kids good food. Equally disturbing was that there were traces of banned chemicals in the OG fed childs blood. My guess is those chemicals probably got into her via the supposedly OG imported food that couple used. Most people assume an OG label means the food is unpolluted, but this is far from true particularly if it comes from third world countries. DDT for example can persist in the soil for 30 years plus, PCBs possibly hundreds of years. If DDT had been previously used on land now certified as OG then the food grown on it will still be contaminated. Worse the ground water is often contaminated and will reach areas certified as OG. Thus the OG labels are misleading at best. All this makes a nonsense of the philosophy that OG certified essential oils are any better for your health than commercially produced oils. It also shows how crazy it is to consume essential oils in medicinal volumes that originate in from third world countries. Young Living actively promote such dangerous practices as do a few aromatherapy teachers. I know that fennel oil from India has been shown to have high levels of banned chemicals and other seed oils have been found to be contaminated. I do support the efforts of genuine organic growers, but what I do not support are those essential oil suppliers who hike the price of oils simply on the fact it has an OG certificate of doubtful validity. Several suppliers also make unjustified claims of the extra efficay of such oils based on energy bs. Hope this makes those who think they are doing the best for their kids, think a bit more about where their foods and medicines are coming from, and consider other factors such as sofas, carpets, beds, building materials, etc. Martin Watt

I know that here in the states, many children's clothing contain fire retardent chemicals, it is the same with toys. With children, anything in the environment can end up in their mouth.
