Guest guest
Greetings! My name is Jewel, and I'm a 21 y/o in Reston, Virginia. My ex-boyfriend has a degree in massage therapy, and taught me a little of massage (Yes, so he could get massages ). I have mostly learned deep tissue massages, but am really getting into learning about hot and cold treatments, myofascial release, cranio-sacral release, and pressure point therapy. I would really like to incorporate aromatherapy and some colour therapy into this as well. I enjoy helping others relax, and have many friends who come to me for just that. However, I have two friends who need not just relaxation, but relief from physical problems. One is getting older, and has back problems. I give him back and full body deep tissue massages to help him relax all over, and to address the taut muscles of his back. Yes, he has asked his doctor if it's okay, and his doctor said it was fine. The other has fibromyalgia, and really needs gentler massages. He says he could take deep tissue, but I'm afraid to try as it generally hurts more than it helps with people who have fibromyalgia (or so I've read). So I'd like to learn other massage techniques. I also feel aromatherapy would be of a BIG help to him, especially with his restless leg syndrome (brought on usually by stress), and with his insomnia. However, I am very new to exploring aromatherapy, and know I have much to learn about it. But for starters, what are some good shops in the D.C. area that carry quality essential oils? Are there any places that also give classes on a class-by-class basis in aromatherapy? What's the best way to incorporate aromatherapy into massaging (adding oils to lotions, candles, diluted oil?) I have many questions, as do most anyone new to something, but I think that makes a fair start into my exploration. Thank you, Jewel @}-;---
