Hi Bartmom4,

Wow, rose hydrosol benefits.

I have been using rose hydrosol as a toner on my 55year old skin for at least 5

years, my skin is beautiful, relatively unlined and doesn't feel dry at all.

From 25 to 45 I was plagued with acne, hormonal etc, over the last 10 years I

have made a lot of my own masks and lotions using essential oils but wherever

water content is needed I always put in rose hydrosol.

I also have rose hydrosol in a spray which I take travelling, it's always in my

handbag, freshens me up and I smell gorgeous, don't use any commercial perfumes.

I have just returned from a trip and while at the Spice Market in Istanbul

bought myself some, I was not able to carry a lot in my suitcase unfortunately.

I highly recommend it.

Jocelyn.

There is very little scientific research on the hydrosol, but it has

been used for possibly thousands of years. The most important uses are

as a cooling anti inflammatory wash for damaged skin and sore eyes. It

is ideal for babies bottoms when the skin is getting sore, or for other

sore patches in adults around that delicate area. It is much better

than essential oils where the skin is in a highly irritated state

already, ie. psoriasis and eczema. This is all provided the hydrosol

is bug free which certain suppliers can prove, but beware of those

suppliers who do not test their hydrosols for contamination.

Of course any claims such as rejuvenating the skin are just hogwash -

yes you will come across that one! Like with lavender oil, there may

be chemicals in rose hydrosol that aid regeneration of damaged skin

cells but this is not the same as regenerating undamaged skin.

Used as the water phase in a skin cream, it creates a lovely gentle

soothing cream suitable for almost anything.

There are of course many other uses for this hydrosol, at least it is

one with sound traditional uses, unlike many others you will see being

hyped on the internet.

Rose Hydrosol is a water first of all so it is hydrating to the skin. A lot

of women use hydrosols in place of toners in their skin care routine. My

favorite hydrosol is actually helichyrysum and have found that it makes my

skin smoother, more refined, and heals like you wouldn’t believe.. much like

the essential oil does but a lot more gentle. There are a lot of different

hydrosols you just have to find which one works for you. But I would have to

say that rose is one of the most popular ;) Another fave of mine is cistus.

We will be in Istanbul for 4 days next year. Can you give me advise on

where to purchase Rose Hydrosol. at the spice market.

Do you use a preservative in the the Rose Hydrosol you use as a spritz

and for your daily face care?

Which preservative and at what rate.
