Guest guest
Today, here in Southern California, it is beautiful. The sky is blue and there is a slight crispness to the air. Yesterday was overcast most of the day and today is sparkling! No garden this year. We did the whole vegetable garden thing last year and this year we've taken a break but we sure do miss the fresh veggies and made soap with the extra cucumbers on hand. Sue D. Yesterday was overcast most of the day and today is sparkling! [Dave:] Yes, it is! About thirty mile north of San Diego, there’s a fall feeling to the air, even though the sky is blue. Some leaves are beginning to turn. The coyotes, who tend to pull back into more remote areas during the summer, are back patrolling the creek across the street. The first vee-shaped flocks heading south are beginning to be seen. Saw a fox out back the other night, an owl the night before. Last night was the harvest moon, and the moonlight was spectacular. Guest guest
55 degrees, damp and dark early here in Philadelphia. The garden is going to sleep for the most part. I got me a weed whacker and plan to use it tomorrow. I just love that thing. It's electric and does a helluva job. Guest guest
Here in Minas Gerais, Brazil, it is rainy. Springtime is in its full and flowering almost eveything. The main color is bluish purple In the garden the azaleas are magnificent, and the white one is gorgeous. The lobelias are fantastic bordering the beds of geraniums. All nice and purple. The lyn seed is flowering too in a pale lilac. The mini roses are lovely in many colours. The trees are fantastic. Pau-brasil and guapuruvu covered in yellow flowers. The herb garden is in full camomile and absynth. Beautiful! Ane* Você quer respostas para suas perguntas? Ou você sabe muito e quer compartilhar seu conhecimento? Experimente o Respostas! Guest guest
Hi Ane, That sounds so beautiful! I wish we had transporter beams like on Star Trek, cause I'd be coming over for tea! We're supposed to be getting a cold front moving through and we're going to be in the upper 60's and lower 70's for 2 whole days before it goes back up to around 90 again! *lol* So I have my window to get into the Autumn garden this week .. Its time to plant leafy greens and tomatoes (I think , *Smile* Chris (list mom - making Authentic Rose Soap today!) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Here in Minas Gerais, Brazil, it is rainy. Guest guest
How wonderful to get a whiff of spring in our fall! Ane, are you growing any Rainforest herbs? Apparently Chanca Piedra is so easy to grow it is almost weedlike. Richter's sells seeds for it, but they were sold out by the time I ordered. Next year! Guest guest
60 to 70 is a COLD front? I wanna move to Texas! (not really) Up here it is gorgeous fall weather. The sky is blue, the sun is shining on golden leaves, but the rivers are mere trickles of what they should be, there is no mushroom season, and I am getting a bit worried. In the garden we are wrapping things up for the year. Zuchini is hanging on in the green house but the basil is gone. Stevia, Thyme and Rosemary have been put inside under grow lights till spring. I'll try cloning some later. Dahlia and marigolds still blooming, together with Michaelmas daisies and sedum. I am drying the last herbs and getting the garlic bed ready. Market plants have been dug in, pots and all, for a headstart next year (I had a blast selling hardy perennial bedding plants at the farmers market). Dandelion roots enriched with a bit of yellow dock and burrdock are steeping in apple cider vinegar. I add to it whenever I have been digging. Echinacea is patiently waiting her turn. We dig her up when the flowers have died down. That's about it! Ien in the Kootenays http://profiles./free_green_living
Guest guest
Ieneke Is this Chanca piedra our quebra pedra? I wonder If it is a kind of weed that is good for the kidneis and urinary system,I've got it. Plenty, and never use it (I live in a spa town with miraculous waters, therefore, no kidney problems). If I can be of any help let me know. And Chris, if you want to come over, even in thought you are very welcome. Fresh coffee and quitandas like cheese bread, banana cakes, or tea and crumble pie English style, are the specialities . It rains...
