Methyl salicylate is not found in the original plant material .. it requires laborious processing to obtain it .. that's why Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) and Sweet Birch (Betula lenta) are almost always totally synthetic. Someone is gonna come on line and swear that theirs is the real thing .. because their supplier told them it was and the supplier advertises it as natural. Why would someone take the time and effort to produce an expensive natural oil when the exact same results are obtained with any form of Methyl salicylate? If someone thinks they have a natural one .. they can write me off line and tell me how much they paid for it I'll be able to enlighten them. These are two oils where there is no high or low quality .. both are 98-99 percent Methyl salicylate in any case. Does Methyl salicylate stop pain? YEP! But it poisons the liver if used frequently. Folks who use it normally do so because of chronic problems .. so they do use it frequently. Use of Wintergreen to stop pain is like a wino drinking another bottle to avoid a hangover .. or a heroin addict taking another shot to avoid withdrawal .. in all cases it works but in all cases it is not the healthy thing to do. Posts are on the way that explain why I don't sell Wintergreen or Sweet Birch and why I think folks should think hard on whether or not they want to use it. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
