Guest guest
Hi Fran, > I have a different question about birch and Wintergreen. > I love the smell of them and I wanted to know if there is > any harm using them in air fresheners. I also like to heat > oil with an eo in them in a soapstone dish I have - the kind > that you put a candle in the bottom to heat the oils in the > dish above - would it be harmful to use the two in this manner? I don't have any references to support what I am writing here .. but if we use known facts then we can draw a logical conclusion. Does the body process Methyl salicylate well? No! That is a fact! What are the most efficient means of delivering any chemical to the body? 1. Injection (not used in AT); 2. Inhalation .. common in AT and its what you described above. (3) Ingestion .. not necessarily efficient due to reaction by stomach acids and the potential for toxic reactions. (4) Absorption of some chemicals .. not efficient or very effective because those chemicals that normally absorb are those that are likely to cause sensitization .. and we're not getting therapeutic value .. if we're not getting the entire natural synergy of the oil. If a person has a healthy liver will frequent inhalation of Methyl salicylate harm them? Maybe .. probably not but maybe. Does the average person know how healthy their liver is .. or what it would take to cause a healthy liver to slowly become less healthy? This would also .. logically .. apply to frequent/heavy ingestion of alcoholic beverages .. so Methyl salicylate has no corner on the risk factor. I would not subject my family to frequent inhalation of Methyl salicylate or approve of them drinking alcoholic beverages in an irresponsible/frequent manner. If the facts I provided are untrue .. if they are assumptions instead of facts .. then I would come to a wrong conclusion. But I believe that the facts I presented are just that .. facts. > Fran Y'all have a good one .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com >>I want to know the truth whatever it is.
