Guest guest
Its close to halloween and we are on the subject of cats. I am not a cat lover, in fact I was looking for another dog. My friend and I live in the country and would go for walks on this same route. One day we decided to take another route, we are walking and I hear this meowing coming from the tall grass. My friend said not to look, but I had to it sounded so sad. In the tall grass was this approx. 5 week old black kitten(happened two years ago), looking up at me with its yellow eyes meowing its heart out. You could tell someone dropped off a litter of them in the tall grass, because a small area in the grass was flat. Then I saw his brothers and sisters dead in the road...he also had an small injury...so I took him home. Its so funny because I find this black kitten on halloween. We have had cats before, but never have had a cat like this one. My husband said he is a familiar, not sure what that meant. Anyways he follows me all over the house...watches whatever I am doing...its really different. This cat is like a dog, is always close by. He is not a lap cat, at least at not this point. He only lets me pet him for about a minute, before he wants down. He talks to me, I am not sure what he says...only if its near feeding time. Do they become lap cats when they get older? :)Paula, who is becoming a cat lover too.
Guest guest
Hey Paula Some cats are lap cats and some never are. Ex. Manx cats are typically NOT lap cats and don't liked to be picked up. However, they are wonderful companions, will chat with you if you have anything interesting to say, are actually " trainable " unlike most cats. Some folk have called them the Dog of the Cat world. Enough about Manx' though. Sounds like this little feller is very happy that you found him. Sounds like the pair of you are very lucky. And on Halloween. I believe that's called " Sernedipity " . Cats are wonderful folk. I've had them all my life and although I like dogs, much prefer the sassy, loving, independant nature of a cat. They are all different, even though they have lots in common. I have a black cat too – Ms Odessa the Transgressa – and she’s about as ornery as they come. Also not a lap cat. Some is and some ain’t. -- Version: 7.1.408 / Virus Database: 268.13.14/501 - Release 10/26/2006 -- Version: 7.1.408 / Virus Database: 268.13.14/501 - Release 10/26/2006
Guest guest
I have a long haired black cat that I named Ouija. He is an absolute sweetie and as loving as they come. He is definitely a momma's boy as he doesn't like me out of his sight. He is strickly an inside cat and doesn't want outside but he cries at the door when I am outside for me to come back in. Then he's happy as a clam. When the gals, my other two fur babies, gang up on him he runs to me for protection. It's a real hoot. Guest guest
In the almost 4 years that I have known Evelyn, Ouija is the 1 cat of hers that has never let me touch him. Took 1 of my grand daughters over there and couldn't believe the 2 of them ! He let her pet him as much as she wanted !! This is the grand daughter that lost part of her arm just before her 2nd birthday. When she came home from the hospital, she refused to take her pain meds (couldn't stand the taste) even though she was in a lot of pain. It had got to the point where she was beating her head on the end tables from the pain. It was either hold her down and force the med down or take her back to the hospital so they could start an IV. My daughter said she'd have my DH hold her and she would try forcing it down her. Last thing she wanted to do was take her back to the hospital. DH had hold of her, standing in the bath tub (figured the med would be all over the place and it would be easier to clean up the tub and tub walls) While my daughter was getting the med into the medicine syringe so she could try and squirt it down her throat, Zayla's kitten came in the room meowing. DH told her that her kitty was waiting for her to take her medicine. Zayla refused but asked to hold her kitty. Thinking it might help, DH picks up the kitten and set it down on her chest. The kitten went to the nub of her injured arm and started rubbing up against it. We all thought it was going to make the pain a lot worse, but somehow that little kitten was the miracle drug we needed - as soon as she started nuzzling Zayla's nub, the pain disappeared ! Zayla finished healing with no more pain and I was ready to have salmon flown in from Alaska and hand feed that cat !! A few years later, the cat started getting sick and then disappeared. We figured she ran away to die or she was an angel in disguise and since her job was done, she left. Zayla will be 8 in Feb and I went with her and my daughter yesterday for the final fitting for her electric arm Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away I have a long haired black cat that I named Ouija.
