Well, have a wonderful weekend folks and may all your techno gadgets work well! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
And I just love the times my cell phone doesn't tell me I've missed a call or have a voice mail and I find it a week or so later! [Dave:] Gosh, do you have Verizon too? My contract is up in 2 weeks and they’re offering me all kinds of free minutes to re-up...I told the last gal that Verizon doesn’t OWN enough minutes to keep me. -- Version: 7.1.409 / Virus Database: 268.13.24/514 - Release 11/2/2006 -- Version: 7.1.409 / Virus Database: 268.13.24/514 - Release 11/2/2006

[KD] We have both Verizon and Cingular in the family and they are equally dismal as far as customer service goes, as was the old ATT a predecessor to Cingular, my sister has Sprint and it's worse, T-Mobil only works well if you never need to leave a large metropolitan area. I have never had what I think even reasonably good cell phone service could be. OTOH Verizon has that DSL " aircard " giving (sort of) highspeed internet access anywhere there's cell service--now THAT is a benefit. Guest guest
Big Phone Company Motto . . . . " We don't care; we don't have to. " We're way at the end of the road out here on Panther Lake and after struggling with satellite blackouts for a year, we were happy to hear that Verizon was putting DSL in our neighborhood. Well, exorbitant business fees later, doesn't feel like DSL and in addition to slow, slow, slow, the transformer goes out all the time so we still have internet blackouts. :-( Never an offer to credit the account for lost time and you should hear the unenthusiastic, defensive rhetoric when we call to report the problem. Shees. Makes me want to go back to tom toms. Be Well, Marcia Elston http://www.wingedseed.com " Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot. " ISN'T THAT THE TRUTH!?! Is your's an " aircard " ? that works over a cell phone system, or is it some other form of DSL like over landlines? We have had very little problems with ours either in metro areas or in the boonies, but there's occasional slow downs of the system that we believe to be high volume of users either of verizon or the internet in general (Monday morning at 8am for instance) and it's not as blazing fast as we would like, but it's always better than fast dialup, at about the rate of our first DSL line in, oh, about 1999ish. And the convenience has been worth it. KD
Guest guest
And don'tcha just love those advertisements on TV that offer you the world? This year there have been lots of adverts on TV for Sprint/Nextel shouting " Now your evening minuits start at 7PM " " Whoo hoo I thought so there we were calling all and sundry after 7 Then comes the crunch.. $46 overages for one month!!! So off to the phone I go and give them an earfull about false advertising because apparantly that is only for the " Free and Clear " plan. not all plans.. Well I do have good leverage because I said. You may win in the short run but my contract is up soon and if you don't credit my account back that amount I won't be with you soon. I'll go elsewhere.. Notice the change in attitude then :-) ..Not only did I get that amount back but now have 10% discount for ever and more minutes.. and 2 new phones.. Power is at the end of a contract hee hee.. And the convenience has been worth it. KD It's actual landline . . . We have at least 5-7 power outages in the winter because of ice and storms and since phone lines are on the same poles, this often blacks all phone lines out, too. However, even this summer there were times the DSL was just piddlin' along. We ARE at the end of the line . . . But supposedly high volume will not slow service. So they say. We never know if it's our server or the lines themselves, but sometimes the poles are actually damaged when it's another true blackout. We also have 5 networked computers here and sometimes someone is downloading files which also slows us way down. But, I can't help but b***h - I want it and I want it now!!! Waaaahhhh. Guest guest
When I ordered dsl lite from Bellsouth, they cancelled my dialup, which I didn't ask them to do, nor want them to do. When I used my dialup, they then dinged me $20 for their dsl lite " emergency " dialup -- say what? I complained, the guys said, " Lady, you ordered it, you're paying for it. " Um... No... I cancelled my service and didn't pay for it either. Not much happier with the new carrier either. Lots of talk, but always big surprises with my bill. Susan H.
