Guest guest
Bad cold? Try sleeping with an onion. Yes, you read it right. I was talking to my sister in Holland this morning and she sounded sniffly. " Oh, " said she, " just my yearly fall cold. Nothing to worry about, and I slept fine because I used the onion thing. " me: " ???? " Sister: " You just cut an onion in half and put one on each side of your pillow on a saucer. Works like a charm, I have been doing it for years. I woke up last night feeling stuffed up and as soon as I put the onion out and went back to bed I slept like a baby. " (My sister is single.) You got to love stuff like that. She no doubt learnt it from her mother. Although I haven't used it for quite some time (as I don't tend to get sick often), I have to say that it works a treat! We used it more for those coughs/bronchitis type thing, where you just couldn't stop coughing during the night. Peel the onion, cut in half and leave half on the bedside table or somewhere close to your bed head. A wee bit stinky, yet somehow soothing and worth it!
