Guest guest
we've had snow already twice this year. Not enough to stay on the ground, but enough to say " Hey look, it's snowing " . But it won't be much longer and it will be staying on the ground in this part of Michigan. Being right on Lake Erie, we get a lot of lake effect snow too. Last few night's, our low temps were in the 20's (F) Paula .......... in Michigan I used to have super powers but my therapist took them away Hey y'all, Getting our first snow right now .. which (contrary to the opinion of a few folks) will not freeze our camels or cover our sand dunes cause there ain't none'a them in Turkey nohow. South of here .. in Antalya and a few other cities on the Mediterranean, some of the more hearty folks are still dipping in the sea. East of here, in upper Anatolia and around the area of Mount Ararat and such .. the villages have been snowed in for a while .. and will continue to be until maybe April or so. But cold it is here in Ankara and early is this snow. Good it is too .. because I gotta do some acclimatizing afore 12 November when we'll be getting on a plane for Russia .. for a 2 month stay. Its gonna be one cold muther up around the Ural Mountains. Been a few years since I have done any skiing but I will get a chance to break my laig or arm on this trip. Got out my old Norwegian Ultimo ski coat today .. and the insulated underwear I wore back when I was in Uncle Sugar's Army .. and a couple of Russian hats I bought years back in Moscow. But still, I think I might need a bitta Russian vodka from time to time to stay warm. This is my third trip to Russia but it'll be the first one where I get to see the real Russia .. last two were to Moscow and St. Petersburg and seeing those two cities only is like someone seeing New York City and San Francisco and saying they know a lot about America. This time I'll be able to travel around a bit (weather permitting) with my own Russian guide .. and we even plan to go to a place I've wanted to visit for many years .. Kazan, Tataristan. Oh yea .. while in Russia I'll have access to e-mail .. sorta .. but not great access. Folks who send me questions and such during that period might .. might not .. get an answer. Orders will continue to be dealt with .. business as usual .. by my folks at my company in Maryland. Gonna take a lotta photos .. mainly, my interests are not buildings and such .. its the real people .. in the towns and villages. Alexander has 2 great grandma's, a grandma & grandpa .. and an uncle waiting for him there .. so I expect that by the time we get back there will be no doubt in his mind who is the Rooster of the Roost. ;-) Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO, Tested Hydrosols & Rose Products and other nice goodies shipped to you from our warehouse and store in Downtown Friendsville, Maryland .. population 597.
