Guest guest
Hi Tamara, > Could someone please help me sort this out…. This is EO and olive > oil selling for twice the price as straight EO, am I reading this > correctly? So why couldn't I mix half and half (EO and olive oil) > and put it in a glass dropper container and use it the same way for > a fraction of the price? You might ask the same question about the price of Young Living Oils. Or about any Multi Level Marketing company's oils. What you see there from North American Herb & Spice .. owned by Judy Gray and ex-Doctor Cass Igram .. is not even half and half .. his so called Oil of Oregano is normally 10% Oregano EO and 90% Olive Oil. This company now operates as a Multi Level Marketing Company. How does he get the price he asks? He makes claims that only those who have a medical degree can make .. he advertises a lot on radio in the North .. and he lectures a lot .. plus he wrote a little book and then published it himself .. called, " The Cure is in the Cupboard: How to Use Oregano for Good Health. " Cass Igram claims that ONLY Origanum vulgare works .. and he says folks should avoid Origanum marjorana and the Mexican or Cuban Oregano (these are Common Names) which is actually Lippia graveolens .. in fact, he is right .. Origanum marjorana is not Carvacrol rich .. and though Lippia graveolens does have Carvacrol .. so does many other plant oils that are not Origanums. However, he is NOT right in saying that ONLY Origanum vulgare has the properties he touts in his publication .. ANY of the Carvacrol rich Origanums will do the same job. Many years ago I was his supplier .. had a contract to provide something like 12,000 kilos (12 metric tons) of Oregano EO a year .. and I sold many thousands of kilos of EO to him. Cass Igram came to Turkey to visit me and I gave him the round robin tour, etc. While here, he cut a deal under the table with one of my employees to get the product for less .. and my crooked employee, able to operate out of his mother's kitchen instead of having to run a company and pay utilities and taxes and employee salaries, etc., could sell for a bit less. So .. the employee cut a deal with a distiller to supply Igram and later the distiller cut the crooked employee out of the deal .. and Igram went into business with the distiller .. who, by the way, is not known for his integrity here in Turkey .. and today he still produces for Igram. Igram canceled his written contract with me without advance notice so I got stuck with a few thousand dollars worth of raw materials .. and as I had a contract with a distiller to provide the products to Igram .. I had a $5,000 loss to pay off that distiller for out busted contract. All of the Oregano Igram bought from me was NOT Origanum vulgare. Ask a short question and get a long answer. That's me. ;-) Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Check my Origanums out at http://www.av-at.com/prices.html you know where to find the Olive Oil. ;-) - - - - - - - - - - - FACTS ON THE ORIGANUMS - - - - - - - - - - All of the Origanums except the Origanum dubium Linalool Type are Carvacrol-rich and Carvacrol is the active therapeutic component most people seek. Origanum vulgare is the best seller though its not the only therapeutic Origanum. Maybe people think its the best because there is one company making some fairly sound health claims and selling it as " Oil of Oregano " in a 10% Oregano/90% Olive Oil mixture for as much as $39.95 per 2/3 ounce bottle. So people see mine as being less costly. With mine, one can mix their own and create a dozen bottles of the $39.95 product for less than half the price. And .. for a fact that company is NOT selling ONLY Origanum vulgare .. I know their supplier and they are producing as much Origanum dubium Carvacrol as they are anything else. Origanum onites has been the next best seller and that might be due to some things I've written on it and a portion of the lecture I gave at an AT Conference in Toronto, Canada in September 1999. I presented some research conducted by five prominent professors in Turkey using Origanum onites in a project involving lung tumors in rats, using three different groups and three treatments, one of them being normal cancer treatments. I presented the study, showed the audience colored micro slides of the lung tissues. The Origanum onites not only stopped the growth but also caused recession of the growths! The lung tissue was reverting to its previously normal pink and clear state!! I made it clear that this is not an indication that it will cure cancer in humans but it shows a great need for further research and such research is ongoing. Origanum dubium Carvacrol is the next best seller, possibly because it appears to have a milder odor than the others. Turks generally prefer it for home medication. Contrary to the many marketing claims being made by certain fad sales companies .. the Origanum onites and Origanum dubium Carvacrol have the exact same therapeutic properties as does Origanum vulgare. In fact, they are not all selling Origanum vulgare anyway .. the world supply is not sufficient to supply all those who make such claims. To take it a bit further .. I have supplied companies who make claims of selling only Origanum vulgare .. but that is NOT all they purchased from me. Origanum dubium (Linalool type) is in its own class .. a very nice odor and dual therapeutic value. It's high in linalool, as is lavender, and high in carvacrol, as is oregano. It has healing properties of oregano and lavender .. so much so that the common name in Turkey is Lavanta Kekik (Lavender Oregano.) It's endemic to Turkey - not found elsewhere and even here it's only found in a very small corner of the Southeast. When people get samples of it from us, they buy it. I normally use it for inhalation and it is great for diffusion - I love the odor. I prefer either Origanum vulgare, Origanum onites or Origanum dubium Carvacrol for kicking Big Bad Bug Butts (cold, flu, sinuses) but I do not make recommendations to others on ingestion of essential oils. I recommend buyers consult their doctor prior to this manner of usage. For diffusion any one will do the job but just for inhalation, I'd go with the Origanum dubium (Linalool type) because I love the odor. All have proven antiseptic, antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-spasmodic properties and they are believed to be capable of stimulating the immune system .. which .. assists the body to overcome viral infections, which puts the virus in retrograde .. stops its reproduction so it goes back into defilade position. So - one can choose based on the above descriptions of each oil.
