Guest guest
I've been posting many questions here since I joined the group and have learned a great many things. Being a lay person when it comes to essential oils, aroma therapy, herbs, soapmaking to mention a few of the things covered on this group I'm going to apologize in advance if any of my questions sound like I'm repeating myself or if I use improper terminology. I stumbled into learning more about " natural " products when I inadvertently came across some information about household chemicals/beauty products and the cancer causing, hormone disruptive, toxic chemicals they are made from. The claims are that these chemicals are absorbed through the skin in the form of shampoos, conditioners, soaps, makeup, etc., causing chemical overload that overtime may cause serious health problems. I read the posts about the " expert " and the 60% absorption of household chemicals and all the replys that went with it. Some things were made clear but some not-I understand the reasoning behind the EO absorption explanation but when products are created are chemicals added as enhancers to purposely make the product more easily absorbed by the skin (just personal care items, not meds), is no one really sure what's going into our bodies because of the lack of reliable testing and if no one knows for sure, why is everyone claiming we are walking chemical factories? The natural web sites make it sound like we are radioactive and essential oils are the cure-all. But I'm not one to jump into things without knowing as much as I can. Unfortunately there is a great deal of money to be made by playing on people's fears. J
