Guest guest
from Bahia, the resin is dryed in the sun and taken in pellets from the plant that they cut to " bleed " just like frnakincense and myrrh that I get in a very good store. If I get something different than that I never use. Benzoin dissolves in hot water leaving a good deal of residue. The water is greyish with that antisseptic smell. I have learnt to use benzoin at the hospital, where it is used for ages, as a routine for bedsores and it works marvelously. Seriously, there is nothing harmful about it. It is much better than petroleum jelly, lauryl ether sodium sulphate, detergents, chemicals that people use in their houses, clothes and bodies everyday, much better than electomagnetic waves, radiation, air polution, that's for sure... Have you ever had couperose? What about some lotion that makes you fell fresh, feeling your skin strong , soft and supple again... Recoverring the right natural oilness and hydration? Well, my friends, I have couperose myself and I know very well how it feels. If my attitude (which is not in judgement) seems a bit supercilious it is not my fault, but maybe my English is not good enough to speak politely, but only enough to express myself. Very sorry about that, I didn' t want to give this impression, but I really want this discussion to hapen and see where it leads. Have a nice weekend Ane*
Guest guest
Any hospital using benzoin for bedsores should be sued for using treatment that is 50 years out of date. I have specialised in the safety of aromatic substances for many years and I have dozens of sound scientific reports on the dangers of using benzoin for normal skin let alone for wounds. I have seen first hand the damage benzoin can cause and it is pitiful. The fact it heals a wound does not mean it won't later cause major problems, that is the nature of sensitisation. It would seem to me that you are taking traditional uses without bothering to learn about known safety factors. This subject has been written about many times on several groups. I suggest you use Google to find the reports.
