Guest guest
Hi all. I'm going to do it tonight!! What you say? I'm going to make my first batch of soap!! I've got a recipe for 24oz using coconut oit, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil and aloe vera oil (canola base), and palm out as the " main " oil. I was going to go for olive oil, but couldn't find any but the " extra virgin " kind. So . . . I'd like to add some EO's to make things scented, but the only one I have enough of is peppermint. Please note, I did ask earlier this week about other EO's but on further investigation realized I didn't have enough of them. I've used them primarily for aromatherapy and only have 10ml bottles. I found an online fragrance calculator (thanks MMS!!) but peppermint isn't listed. And . . . I've recently had a not so pleasant experience with Dr. Bonners peppermint soap!! It doesn't feel good on certain sensitive body parts!! So I definitely want to avoid that with my soap. Does anybody know how much peppermint eo should be added to 24oz of oil? I want it to be lightly scented but I definitely don't want ti to burn!! Maybe unscented would be best? I'm hoping these will be Christmas gifts and I don't know if I'll have time for another batch. Thanks so much!! Carrie
Guest guest
Carrie, When the soap is ready, you should keep it warm, so I think you should not put to much EO in it because the heat will make it evaporate. Be sure you put the scent at the end of process. I would advise you to put one ml peppermint oil in your batch of more than a kilo. This way it would be light enough and scented enough.
