You know, there's lots of other things you might think about doing too that do not smell... If you're in the type of building you describe, there might be additional reasons for your perceived stress level than just the workload and co-workers. There’s various forms of “sick building syndrome” and some things you can do about it for your local environment besides the oils that we all love. Computers and other electronics generate positive ions and other contaminates including EMF radiation that can add to anxiety and stress reactions. I have not tried this, but I have heard that they are really great (rock salt lamps) http://www.lampsalts.com/himalaya.aspx if you google Rock Salt Lamps you will get more than you can ever read ;-) And there’s lots of other cubical sized air filters and negative ion generating devices. Just google “personal air filter or cleaner” and you will get a deluge of sites. Also certain types of “music” (some is not really music but more of a drone) to create “white noise” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_noise): machines http://www.white-noise.us/ music http://www.amazon.com/Healing-Anugama/dp/B00005TZOC/sr=8-3/qid=1163806544/ref=pd\ _bbs_sr_3/104-3639944-0618300?ie=UTF8 & s=music http://www.amazon.com/Awakened-Mind-System-Jeffrey-Thompson/dp/B00009L1TC/ref=cm\ _lm_fullview_prod_1/104-3639944-0618300 http://www.amazon.com/Tibetan-Bells-Henry-Wolff-Hennings/dp/B00005BHW3/sr=1-2/qi\ d=1163806602/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-3639944-0618300?ie=UTF8 & s=music EMF protection devices: I have not tried these either, but I have heard great things from those friends of mine who have (not any of these particular brands, but similar, just google EMF protection) these are all versions of a “faraday shield” which a physicist friend of mine says should work. And my friends that use them do test (by kinesiology) stronger around EMF’s when wearing them. http://www.howtolearn.com/qlink.html http://www.blockemf.com/?engine=adwords!1895 & keyword=%28emf+protection%29 & match_\ type= & gclid=CLLFjomgz4gCFSjOJAodQ2C6LA http://www.toolsforwellness.com/emf.html http://www.lessemf.com/personal.html Stress affects the heart and liver organs and meridian systems, there is music that is said to be able to aid that organ system both to calm and to be stronger from an oriental point of view. Daoist Qi Gong lineage masters occasionally specialize in therapeutic music. Here’s one guy that does that: http://www.masterwu.net/ And here’s his CD http://www.masterwu.net/music.html This is not an unobtrusive drone tho, it’s really oriental sounding music, but that might take their mind off of your oils ;-))) (and annoy a whole new faction of co-workers ;-) And then there’s the idea of strengthening the heart and liver systems with herbs and nutrition. For herbs look to “stress formulas” in western or oriental (Chinese) medicine systems. A couple of chinese formulas are “xiao yao san” (liver stress and anger) and “gui pi wan” (heart anxiety). Plum Flower is a good brand and you should be able to get them anywhere like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and others. If you get these take a quarter of the dose recommended on the bottle and take them long term. Western formulas are too numerous to mention. Micheal Tierra, Janet Zand, and many others concoct anti-stress formulas. I would also do only a quarter to a half of the recommended dose and for a long time. For nutrition and anti-stress, think of Cod Liver Oil first (Carlson is a good brand to start with, lemon flavor, it’s not the best brand for many reasons, but it’s the easiest to get used to until you notice the benefit and then you won’t care if it tastes like fish.) Check out this link http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/cod-liver-oil-menu.html they will not recommend Carlson’s but believe me it’s the best to start with unless you are truly a fish fan. Here’s more about nutrition and stress http://www.westonaprice.org/envtoxins/index.html Mineral Salt baths at night can help greatly with detox which in turn helps with stress adaptability. And at home you can use your oils to your heart’s content. Regular massage is incredible for all stress and anxiety related problems. The effects go far beyond the day you have the massage. And of course here’s the perfect place for your AT/EO’s to go wild! Regular yoga or meditation too. Tai Qi is good as is Qi Gong. Did you say you are in San Diego? If so there’s one of the very best resources for authentic qi gong training in the whole country there. Golden Dragon Tao Health Association http://hometown.aol.com/bagua64/myhomepage/business.html Despite the fact that it looks like it’s for professionals, they teach the very beginning of Qi Gong and they represent a very authentic lineage which is important in oriental movement and martial arts. And flower essences, both Bach and others don’t smell and are fairly safe to play around with yourself. You can start with Bach “Rescue Remedy” it’s easy to get and pretty applicable to all stress and anxiety. Don’t over use however as it can create what it cures if used to much or too often. If that does not work for you, check into the individual flower essences (RR is a combination) and there’s cheap little books that will help you begin to pick for yourself. I'll just have to make sure that > the scent stays > very subtle and take my chances. So the foregoing should give you a whole bunch of things to think about and research as resources for your space and person that do not produce a scent. Unless of course you’re talking about the “scent of enlightenment” that one is said to acquire when one becomes very spiritually advanced. At least that’s what the Tibetans say.
