Guest guest
I have a friend at work who lost her mother suddenly a couple of weeks ago (Mom had played golf in the morning and apparently had a massive heart attack later sometime that night). It's made worse by the fact that her Mom lived in Phoenix (we're in San Diego) and wasn't discovered for a couple of days (they think she passed on Tuesday night and was discovered on Friday morning). Apparently her Mom's friends realized they hadn't seen her for a couple of days and they got someone to go into her condo where they found her. Debra (my friend) had been calling her and leaving messages and at first thought she was just busy and hadn't had a chance to get back to her but then started to get more concerned when she hadn't heard from her. She's having a really hard time dealing with it, especially now the " executor stuff " is wrapping up. I've given her aromatherapy candles in the past which she has really liked. I was wondering if someone could suggest (1) some good " smells " for this kinid of stuff and (2) where I could buy some. thx so much Mary Ann
Guest guest
Mary Ann, Homeopathic Ignatia is the best remedy for grief. It helps with the grieving process. Sandi BlackKat Herbs http://www.blackkatherbs.com >
Guest guest
Dear Mary Ann, Rose essential oil is the main oil for grief and loss as well as to help with the depression that usually follows the loss of a parent. I used it extensively after my Mother died last year and it helped me greatly work through my grief and loss. I hope that this helps. There are many dealers on this list who sell rose oil. Just do a search for rose oil. Good luck in your search. When my mom passed away last year, and when my Dad was suddenly hospitalized in June, my sister and I could not have made it through without Bach Rescue Remedy. You can find it in any health food store. Best wishes, Sue
Guest guest
Hi Mary Ann, Sorry to hear of your friends loss. In selecting an oil I would first speak to your friend to see what oil she likes, what has made her feel good in the past. Nothing like a good old friend to help you through a troubled time and a good old aroma of good feelings works much the same way. Yes, there is much more to it but this is a good start. I could start to name a number of oils like Lavandin abrialis, Lavender, Patchouli, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Rose but what will work for your friend...start by asking her what she really likes. I am one of those who do sell oils on this list and I would be happy to speak with you. Please feel free to call. The number is on the web site. Guest guest
Hi Mary Ann, I am sorry to hear about your friends loss You've gotten some good advice between homeopathy, Flower Essences and also the AT suggestion of working with scents your friend likes. Traditionally speaking Rose is associated with aiding a grieving heart. If she has bad associations with rose, or just hates roses that obviously wouldn't be a good choice, otherwise, it may be a good choice to toss into the mix of whatever you decide on putting together for her. Several folks on this list, including myself, carry some nice rosy things including Rose Otto & Rose Hydrosol, which are my personal first AT choices for grief. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , " crochet.mama35 " wrote: <Snipped> > I have a friend at work who lost her mother suddenly a couple of > weeks ago ... Guest guest
Hi Everyone, thx so much for all your input/suggestions. Debra has definitely been running the gambit of emotions - relief that it was so quick (especially since her father went through a long, painful battle with cancer before he died) but definitely shock and disbelief because her Mom was so active and had no major health complaints as well as guilt from not being there when it happened. I appreciate all the info, espeically the homeopathic/bach info since my knowledge is very limited in those areas. You've reinforced my initial gut feeling to go with rose which is one of my personal favorites and luckily I have right some right now, but since this is for someone else I wanted to get some other opinions. Again, thx so much for you help and willingness to share your knowledge/expertise and I'll say it again, YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! Guest guest
It is not a smell, but it might still help: Bach Flower remedies, and Emotional Freedom Techniques.
