Guest guest
Beeswax alone isn't an emulsifier... you would have to use beeswax and borax. (Although I just bought a book that gives formulas using just beeswax....I doubt the formulas would be stable.) I use borax for cleaning and see it listed as harmful to the skin. What is its role in personal care items and how safe is it for skin care products? Susan

Susan > -------------------- Borax is an emulsifier, just as soap is an emulsifier. The amount used in a cream would be very small and its role is to keep the oil and water together. The products it was used in were generally mostly oil, with a small amount of water, so they would be like a butter or old fashioned cold cream, and because the amount of water was small borax was enough of an emulsifier to hold it together. We now have much better ingredients available. Joanne
