Guest guest
OK I have another question! I would like to know how other people sterilize their bottles and jars. I am using a 95 % alcohol to soak mine in (Everclear). I am wondering if there are other metods to use..... Thanks again! Gloria
Guest guest
I use the 91% isoprople alcohol from Wal Mart. It is around $2.00 for 32 oz. Zo > OK I have another question! Guest guest
I keep rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and give everything a spray or 2 and allow to dry upside down. From what I've seen on the soaping lists I'm on, most people do it this way. If it's good enough for cleaning surfaces in the Dr's office, it's good enough for me. And it costs way less than using Everclear - that has to be one of the most expensive vodka's on the market ! Paula .......... in Michigan coming soon - Farm Fresh Soaps and Candles.com !!! OK I have another question! I would like to know how other people sterilize their bottles and jars. I am using a 95 % alcohol to soak mine in (Everclear). I am wondering if there are other metods to use..... Thanks again! Gloria .

Joanne Hi Gloria, You might just use rubbing alcohol . . . Much more cost effective for cleaning. Save your Everclear for perfume making. You can also run through your d/w with plain water (I assume you are talking about new/clean glass bottles that don't need a suds cycle) and then through the heat dry cycle, which will perform much like an autoclave and also sterilize. Guest guest
I struggled with this last year and found this article from the FDA use 220 ppm of clorox soak in pure cold water for 30 minutes. That is also on the back of the clorox bottle. That is what I do, but I use distilled water to soak them in and also Boil my bottles that I put my tinctures in distilled water for 30 minutes. I might go over board a little but I don't like the alternative of bad bacteria in my product. this article is posted on lotioncrater. there is a great chart at the bottom of the article. http://lotioncrafter.com/pdf/CTFA_Cleaning_ & _Sanitization_Guidelines.pdf charlene
