Guest guest
They are called vermin for a reason and should not be part of the catch and release program. DH & I had a great argument about that one recently when a mouse decided to take up residence. One year I decided that it was too much trouble to put my old boat in the garage and just tarped it in the yard. Oh what an awakening in the spring when I made arrangements to put it back in the water. When I removed the tarp, first the stench hit me and then the shambles of what was a functional boat and was now home to a family of racoons hit me. Bear in mind that here I was, a single parent, struggling to make ends mee and working two jobs at the time. I found this old house on a small lake (which is truly and exagerated term) that was in need of love and being offered at a reduced price due to city sewer coming through the area. Got the boat pretty much the same way, as what is a house on a lake worth if it doesn't have a boat to stick a lot of money into? I managed to fill the boat with water and added lots of chlorine bleach and then some amonia which chased their sorry arses in fair time. I was waiting for them with the only weapon I had which was a pitch fork. I know this sounds cruel, but with great satisfaction I impaled and evicted those nasty critters. Now it's a mute point because the boat was trashed and too old to get anything from it from the insurance company. Racoons make me see red so Carol, I know of your pain. They tried my roof too so had to cut down a tree. Living in a wooded area is not always what you hope for. Patti in Kenosha - not missing that old life terribly much! Guest guest
Varmints indeed! The worst chicken predator I ever had to cope with was a raccoon. It had found a way to climb into the coop over the top. Here I was frantically fortifying the bottom, because I was blaming skunks. It took weeks to figure it out. Actually, the very worst is domestic dogs. They will kill for the sheer pleasure. Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com
