Guest guest
Hi...........I'm new to your group. A brief background on me..........I'm a mom to 10 kids, married to Mark for 23+ years, live on a dairy farm, sell produce over the summer, make soap, homeschool and now I'm thinking about becoming an herbalist. Where would I start? I think it would blend right into what we're already doing. I would want to do courses on line. Any suggestions would be great. TIA Marlene

Guest guest
Hello Marlene, Welcome...I went to Australasian College of Health and Sciences. I was in the online Master Herbalist program. This is a 2 year program..At the end of the program you will have to take a final exam of everything you have learned in the course. Once you passed the final exam and the smaller exams throughout the 2 years you will received a diploma as a master herbalist. It is a very detailed program about the human body and you will study over 50 herbs related to health issues. The program also talk about clinic management, ethical considerations, how to listen and interview a client and membership into the American Herbalist Guild as a student and full membership once you completed the program. The website is www.achs.edu. The school is in Oregon, but you can take on-line courses of all the programs the school has to offer. Best of luck, Monica Need Mail bonding? Guest guest
I never thought of taking an online course to become an herbalist but it sounds like something I'd like to look into. I googled this and came up with lots of places offering online courses to become a master herbalist. Any suggestion on what to look for or what not to look for in a program and what are the opportunities when your are finished? Susan
Guest guest
Thanks Monica.............I have some information from them already and it looks rather appealing. I didn't know if the glossy catalog was all show or if it really was something to consider. It meant a lot to me right now to read this. Guest guest
Hi Susan- There are so many online places to go to get your master herbalist certificate. I look at the classes they offer and if you are eligible for membership in the herbalists guild upon graduation. I also look at if the classes are transferrable, what kinds of deadlines they have, and the final thing I look at is cost. Some of the more well known places charge an arm and a leg! I ask for prior students and talk to them to see how they feel about their experience. I look at the dropout rate, and the credentials of the college and the instructors. All in all you have to decide which one will be best for you. Good Luck! Cindy
