Guest guest
Having had bells palsy myself I can say that yes there is horrific pain associated with it. I had the worst headaches for the first few days that it felt as if someone hit my head dead center on top with an ax. I was 12 and at that time was the youngest person on record to have had bells palsy. Mine started with an ear infection that spread to my facial nerve. The facial nerve runs along the jaw line and becomes inflamed. Since it is inside the bone of the lower jaw the swelling makes the space very tight and the nerve can not send signals to the other nerves that branch off of it and control the feelings and movements of your face. Steroids were the only way to treat it at the time when I had it and at the moment that is all I'm aware of that they use to this day. Its not something to mess around with so I would not go the all natural way with this. Acupuncture would be as far as I would go but I would still go with steroids as well. Believe me this is a horrible thing to have and you wouldn't want it for a minute. I had hit while in school and was teased relentlessly because I looked like I had a stroke. Kids said I was a retard. When half of your mouth doesn't work and you can't close your eye lid when you sleep you'd be miserable as well. By the way, I also have MS and I was told that bells palsy is in many cases the first signs of MS for people. Guest guest
Thanks Veronica. I was just hoping to find something that might bring him a little relief. He also had an earache first. He's still in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable. Susan H. Having had bells palsy myself I can say that yes there is horrific pain associated with it.
