Guest guest
Hi Nikie, This is just an FYI about elderberry and the flu, in case you have a chance to share it with Chris. Years ago I read a research study on elderberry which said that it is effective in killing the flu virus in about 80% of people who take it. So, for those that it works for, it is beneficial as both a preventative and cure, killing the virus before it takes hold, and preventing virus reproduction, shortening the time of having the flu. Soin can be quite helpful even if you begin to take it after symptoms have already manifested. In my personal experience, it is also extremely effective for colds. Hope she feels better soon! Guest guest
As I crawl out of my hole to check mail for the day ... (I peeked last night and almost went into shock in the few minutes before my eyes went wonky from the screen *lol*) .. Thanks for the info Holly, and I hope it hepls others, but for me .. well ... I've done all the " right things " .. from the onset I've made elder berry decoctions and elder flower tea, got elder extract, took echinacea, took oregano, took TONS of vitamin C with bioflavinoids, took goldenseal when my throat started to feel painful, blah blah ... but I still got kicked in the arse!!!! As my Anthroposophic physician in Colorado said to me 2 days ago - I needed a good housecleaning .. and I got it - with a nice high 101.6 fever too! So I'm going to crawl back into my hole now, relax, and going to work on getting all better (cause then I'll have to deal with the after effects of taking a synthetic anti-biotic - for the first time in over 15 years) Thanks for all that well wishes folks - and thanks for posting my updates Nik ! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , lovehealsyou wrote: > > Hi Nikie, > > This is just an FYI about elderberry and the flu, in case you have a chance > to share it with Chris. > > Years ago I read a research study on elderberry which said that it is > effective in killing the flu virus in about 80% of people who take it. Guest guest
Have to tell you this is the same diagnosis DH had when we arrived home from France. We were traveling with 22 herbies, he was given every herb that was supposed to help. Rosemary Gladstar had him on Golden Seal, Echinacea and some herbal teas. NOTHING helped. Of course the trip home in the cabin of an airplane only made things worse. It took him what seemed like months to fully recover. The gunk in his eyes the sore throat and fevers - I made the Dr. Appt. when all else fails see the Dr is my motto. Hell I had to make a Dr. appt for him yesterday - he had bad knee pain for two weeks straight. Now he is in PT for medial collateral ligament strain (mcls). Seems his not jogging and working out caused a tight hamstring that resulted in the mcls. Why is it that he could not make the Dr. appt.? Oh, and why is it that he forgot to bring his brand spanking new Medicare card with him to the Dr. I had to spend over an hour looking for the card - he filed it - hmmm does that sound like put this card in your wallet to you? I guess that is why wives were put on this earth .. to keep men/husbands from completely self destructing.
