Guest guest
Dave, one thing-why use FO's for perfume and not EO's at safe levels? Susan [Dave:] Good question – and there’s nothing wrong with safe levels of EOs as scent in soaps and lotions! The thing is that some soapers REALLY want perfumey soap, and casually pour in EOs as if they had no properties other than scent. I personally have never known of an incident where someone had a serious reaction to EOs in soap, but I know that it is possible, and knowing that the EOs are pretty powerful in some cases leads me to adopt caution in their use. -- Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.17.33/678 - Release 2/9/2007 4:06 PM -- Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.17.33/678 - Release 2/9/2007 4:06 PM
Guest guest
I use EO's in soaps and lotions. I never use more than a 1% usage rate in lotions. I use it for foot lotion, and I am using it for properties. In soaps, I have used it for scent, such as a special order Patchouli and Lavender. For a fragrance oil, the rule of thumb is about 1 oz per pound of oil, for an essential oil the usage is much, much lower. And I still find the scent to be plenty strong enough. Thanks Dave for the input, reminds me to research, research, research.
