You always have to know that it COULD > happen. My mother had such a bad reaction to overuse of tea tree EO that it was on the boarder of being life-threatening. She had trouble breathing for which she went to the MD (who was aghast--ooops--hate adding ammunition to their war-chest), was red all over, itching, burning, might have had skin peeling (I cannot remember for sure), had swelling of various body parts (might be why she had trouble breathing) I don't remember which ones right now, except her ears.... I remember her ears were swollen about double size. It was quite alarming. And funny in the sick sense of humor my family has ;-) Obviously this was an individual reaction in a sensitive person who overused the oil, but this is just the kind of thing that the safety info is trying to prevent. BTW she has a deep sensitivity to poison ivy (rhus tox.) and I think I remember looking it up and finding that Tea Tree is related to PI/Rhus Tox. [Dave:] That’s the first time I’ve heard of someone having that kind of a reaction, but I’ve always known it could happen in some people. This is why I use EOs sparingly in soaps! I’ve been using tea tree oil since the 1960s with no problem, but that doesn’t mean everyone can. -- Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.17.39/687 - Release 2/14/2007 4:17 PM -- Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.18.1/690 - Release 2/16/2007 2:25 PM
