Our Neroli hydrosol (Citrus aurantium/Orange Blossom) is Traditionally

Grown Natural, which means that while the plants were cultivated

traditionally without the use of synthetics such as pesticides, etc., it

is not third party certified as “Organic”.

 

This beautiful hydrosol has an intense exotic floral aroma. It has been

produced by one of Spain’s oldest family owned distilleries. The sweet

essence of hand picked, morning fresh blossoms from Bigarade Bitter

Orange trees is perfectly captured in this hydrosol.

 

Hydrosols are a valuable by-product of the distillation process which

produces the precious essential oils of a plant. Hydrosols contain the

oil soluble chemicals found in the essential oil as well as water

soluble aromatic chemicals, which are not found in the essential oil.

Hydrosols are far less concentrated than essential oils and are safer

and gentler to use than the essential oils, but they do contain

microscopic amounts of the essential oils.

 

Neroli is known to have a calming effect and is great for stressful

situations. It calms the central nervous system without making you feel

sleepy. It can be used on screaming children to help calm them down. You

can also make a lovely Neroli hydrosol pillow spray to help soothe

stressed nerves and allow a peaceful sleep. Some people have used this

as a spritz to calm their pets when it needs to go the vet. It is one of

the few aromatherapy items safe for cats. It also helps with other

animals in stressful situations.

 

Neroli has astringent properties and can be used in skin care where it

can help to reduce redness and irritation. It is beneficial for all skin

types and can be used in face masks, creams and lotions. Sometimes it

might be too strong for sensitive skin, so you might want to blend it

with a rose or chamomile hydrosol or dilute it with distilled water.

 

Traditionally it has been used as a digestive aid, calming spasms of the

digestive tract. We like to put a bit in a glass of spring water for a

soothing, refreshing treat. Also, we have enjoyed it in a glass of white

wine, cooked with it as well as used it in marinades. There are many

traditional Mediterranean, Near East and Middle Eastern dessert/pastry

recipes that use true Bitter Orange Blossom Flower Water.

 

It has been said that Neroli Hydrosol can help to calm caffeine jitters

by adding a dribble to one's coffee.

 

Neroli hydrosol is wonderful for many cosmetic applications. For

example, it is much gentler and more effective than many commercial skin

toners. It can be the ingredient used in the water phase of lotion

making. Blended with various powdered clays, it makes a wonderful facial

mask. During hot summer days it can be placed into a spritzer bottle and

used liberally to keep skin cool, plump and supple.

 

Upon receipt of your hydrosol it should be stored in the refrigerator.

To avoid contamination do not touch the bottle rim or inside of the cap

with your fingers and do not pour unused hydrosol back into the

container. Also, avoid direct sunlight and extreme heat exposure for

long periods of time.

shown to be purer than drinking water. It contains no additives or

preservatives. A preservative may be added if you choose. We make no
