Hi Susan

> Butch, here's the perfume recipe for information's sake:

> 11 ml of jojoba, 4 drops sweet orange, 10 lemon, 6 tangerine, 8

> frankinsence, 5 neroli and 1 myrrh.

Thank you ma'am. This is but one of forty-eleven dozen recipes I and

others have seen over the years .. some claimed to be cures for this

or that situation. Odds are most of them have never been tried ..

they were copied from other sources that copied them from other

sources and on and on and one.

Not sure if you are asking me whether this one is safe or not .. and

if you are I hope you won't take me wrong when I say I am not into

doing the calculations for safety of various blends, etc., and if I

were, there would be no end to the requests for same. ;-)

But .. if someone wants to be well armed to be able to deal with the

myriad of blends that they are exposed to often .. they need to get

their hands on the Safety Manual .. " Plant Aromatics " .

In all fairness .. I'll say that trying to determine the exact level

of safety using drops will require one to have some basic math skills

in order to figure percentages .. its real easy when we consider that

a whole is 100% .. and if we wanted 1% of humma humma oil in a blend

we would mix one (whatever) with 99 (whatevers) of carrier .. I say

whatevers cause it matters not what measure one uses as long as it is

consistent throughout .. that is, there would be exactly 100 each

parts of the whatever measure in the blend.

And .. trying to figure out drops can be a real Bear cause one must

first consider density and such .. and the size of the dropper they

are going to use. The closest they can get to perfection on this

would be to use the exact same size dropper on all the oils they want

to use in the blend.

On the recipe above .. they go from apples to oranges .. the jojoba is

measured in millimeters and the essential oils measured in drops .. so

one would need to get a good handle on how many drops it took to fill

that 11 millimeters of jojoba.

Do not buy into the tales of X number of drops = a ml or gram or

whatever cause that too is Hawg Warsh .. unless .. one does it as I

have laid out above. On this and many other lists I have seen the old

question of how many drops equals what and the range of answers always

runs as much as 200% or more in difference.

Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
