Guest guest
Hi Susan, I'm not sure if this was answered or not .. odds are it was not because you didn't provide sufficient info for sometime to calculate the risk. To clarify .. in case some folks might have missed the point .. when you write about " perfume oils " you are talking about a blend that results from the combination of various essential oils in this or that percentage using this or that percentage of carrier oil. So .. its not a matter of understanding how " perfume oils " work .. its a matter of knowing the proven safe percentages of the various essential oils that will be used to create the blend. As to whether or not a percentage (concentration) of 15% of " various eo " is safe .. there is not a single expert in the entire World who can answer that .. because .. they wouldn't know EXACTLY which EO were included in these " various EO " . When dealing with percentages .. there is NO RULE OF THUMB for safe use of EO .. but we read a lot of garbage saying things like .. " its generally safe to use EO if we don't exceed " this or that percentage. Its all Hawg Warsh .. some EO have been tested safe for use in perfume in percentages far less than 1% (like Star Anise, Roman and German Chamomile .. and many more .. some tested safe as low as 1% (the Geraniums and various Eucalyptus come to mind) .. others have tested safe at percentages as high as 2% (Patchouli is one example) and there are many more with safe percentages between and exceeding those I hit on above. Trying to Guess is dangerous .. it can result in irritation .. or more importantly, sensitization. And .. the safe percentages for use in perfumes is not exactly the same as that for use in cremes .. or some types of aromatherapy blends. The Safety Manual for determining what these percentages are is .. the one I have mentioned dozens and dozens of times on this and other lists .. its Martin Watt's " Plant Aromatics. " For perfumes and cremes the list begins on page 32 of this manual. I posted last week that I was going closing out my sale of this Safety Manual .. that Martin (only) would be handling it in the future .. and the sale prices I gave are below: My normal price for this Safety Publication is $44.90 ... http://www.av-at.com/plantaromaticsavnp.html Martin's normal price is $56.10 ... http://www.aromamedical.com/paper.html Between now and the end of February or until my supply is exhausted .. my selling price will be $33.70 .... roughly 25% off .. but to get this price you must (in your order) state that you saw it on Oils & Herbs. For those who have walk in shops it might be a good product to put on your shelf .. HOWEVER .. nobody can be authorized to offer these publications as ON LINE SALES .. that must be understood! Lots of folks on the list ordered .. but there are still copies left so I am going to extend the sale until further notice. > Thanks, Susan Welcome you are .. have a nice weekend. And y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

You always read about oils in a base not to exceed ______ % due to irritation/sensitization. > Anyway, I have ordered my Plant Aromatics from you and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival along with some oils I can't wait to try. Thanks for always given a great explanation. Susan
