Guest guest
Hi y'all, I'm gonna tell y'all about a rather unique essential oil .. Catnip. Concentrated it is .. not for kittys. For that matter, no EO is for kittys .. their metabolism is different from ours. So .. why do we need Catnip EO? Skeeter Repellent! Check it out! http://www.av-at.com/catnip.html Which Catnip EO to repell Skeeters? There's two types of Catnip EO .. American and Canadian. The American Catnip has between 40%-50% Nepetalactone .. the active ingredient. Canadian Catnip has more .. between 80%-90%. Which is better? This boils down to Bang for the Buck .. or Rubble for the Ruble. The Canadian is a bit more costly than the American but you can use half as much. With the American, we need a 9%-10% dilution for effectiveness .. but the Canadian can be used at 5% and its very effective. Accordingly, I offer only the Canadian Catnip. People want the Canadian as it takes less to do the job so its more cost efficient. How do we use it? Well .. some folks put it on their skin. To date, we have no reports of problems. Like many EO, scientific dermal testing has not been conducted on Catnip .. but empirical evidence to date shows not one problem. But there is no reason to put it on the skin. Keep in mind that there are two theories as to why a mosquito repellent works. One is that skeeters don't like the odor .. the other is that it merely masks our odor so they don't hone in on us. Many people choose to wear it on their clothing rather than their skin. And many choose to use Fractionated Coconut as a carrier as it will not stain. Any carrier will work .. but it should be diluted .. no need to use more when a tad will do the job. Some folks don't like the odor of Catnip .. me included .. but some do. Those who don't can mix a bit of Lemon Tea Tree with it and mask the odor and the Lemon Tea Tree has some repellent properties of its own. This Catnip oil has been worn by one young fellow .. Greg Linsson .. on a safari to the Amazon. His sister gave a testimonal for it on one of the AT lists. Greg was NOT bothered by skeeters. I have Catnip on my Retail and Wholesale links. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Bulk/Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO, Rose Otto, Tested Hydrosols and other nice things shipped from our store in downtown Friendsville, MD. Guest guest
HI Butch- I appreciate all of the comments and information you provide ( you are a veritable wealth of information for the budding mind). I wholeheartedly agree with your comments about Catnip EO. I am just waiting for payday to get some more from you. I use it in my mosquito repellant and I was shocked at the repellant factor. I threw away all of my store bought sprays and I only use my own blend. I just want to say that Butch's EO's are by far the best I have ever purchased and his prices are excellent. Yeah, I know, just another testimonial to add to the thousands out there! Keep up the excellent work! Cindy
Guest guest
CINDY RN: ( & anyone else that might have a recipe) Would you mind posting your mosquito repellant recipe or send it to my email address: ardis_b . I may have missed it if it was in a message. I have horses and in MN the " biters " season is coming on in full force. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
