Guest guest
With the news regarding bee populations mysteriously dying off I've been anxiously awaiting our Spring here in Texas. I'm a gardener and we have lots of stuff around our place and after a number of years I'm pretty familiar with the local bees' routine. (We live way out in the country and I've noticed a couple of places not too far away where some beekeepers have put up hives. I have no idea who they are and, of course, I've been reluctant to approach the hives and leave a note saying " is your bee population down? " ) Any way, I did notice bees came back to our pear tree (the first to bloom), but there were a lot of wasps there, too. Things are still a bit warm here, butterflies are coming back -- but I've not noticed as many bees. Until today. When I was leaving my building today at noon I noticed something flying around out front and whatever it was there was a lot of them. A lady came rushing in and I asked her what it was. " BEES! " she said!! They were swarming -- a new queen had left another hive and was looking for a home. I went on my errand. When I got back I looked out to the tree they had been circling to see if they'd " settled in " -- there they were, in a great big ball. I called the one local beekeeper I'm aware of and left him a message that there was a swarm of bees here if he needed any. I'm thinking this will start happening in other places as well. Guest guest
Keep up the positive vibes and bees will be oky doky. I've seen plenty of them here in The Woodlands area... (TX) My kids freak when they see them, because they're all afraid that they're gonna sting em. I just say tell the be to kindly go away with your mind and make sure you don't have anything they could want as food...
