Guest guest
Well, what a round of discussion on the U.S. and various religious leanings (why do they " lean " ? That's a rhetorical question.) Yes, the " Christian Right " or " Fundamentalists " have been tagged with negativity. Now when anyone asks me if I'm a Christian I always look at them and wonder " oh gosh ... where will my answer take me? " How things have changed religiously in the past 30 years (I'm almost, gasp, 58). I would be interested, Butch and Dave, in carrying on this conversation off line - please feel free to email. I'll close with what I think is an interesting observation: I would have never expected that two " tough " guys (I presume that because you've both seem to have spent time in the armed services) would have ended up in the essential oil industry. To me, that's very interesting -- how the heck did that happen? Dede

I’m just someone who has steadfastly refused to march to any drummer but the one I hear so clearly. This did nothing to enhance my time in the military, believe me. Butch knows exactly what I’m talking about. I was a very good medic, but a lousy soldier. I was in the very first draft lottery, and my number was 16. So I knew the jig was up so to speak, and I could either go to Canada as some of my friends did, or deal with it in another way. So I enlisted, in order to join the medical corps instead of the infantry. No regrets here, but I can think of some colonels and top sergeants who would have a different opinion, just because I was such a troublemaker. It’s been a long time, and I’ve mellowed.
