Perhaps someday the government will decide to build a bunch of homes and schools and take youngsters away from those parents who don't live a lifestyle that some team of experts decides is the correct atmosphere for raising younguns. Finding justification for bad behavior only reinforces continuation of that bad behavior. Oh how sad -- the American government is already removing children from their parents. Within the last year, I've seen several cases on the news about " obese " children being removed from their parents because the gov. has deemed 'overfeeding' as dangerous. There are enough cases to show that foster care is often worse than the original situation a child was in. Removing children from their parents for something as SUBJECTIVE as weight is another step toward totalitarianism. Left or Right, Islam or the Holy Trinity, the government has no right to steal children, and it's sad that people just sit by and watch it go to pieces. I suggest that every time you see a case of a child being removed from their parents, you ask yourself if YOU are willing, that day and hour, to take that child as yours, no questions asked. If not, maybe the state isn't ready to either. How did this happen? When did weight become the new sin? I can't believe we blame our problems on smokers and over eaters. We put children caught with marijuana in prison with adult offenders, but release pedophiles early, and people like Rush Limbaugh and George Bush simply sweep their drug use under the carpet. Well, I guess it's all ok as long as I don't have to wear a burka. Ironically yours, Melissa
Guest guest
On the question of weight, they're not taking away kids that are a few pounds over weight, nor 50 pounds over weight... we're talking about kids who are like 9 years old and weigh 250 pounds or more and despite the kids health being in jeopardy the parents continue to " abuse " their child by not helping him/her to exercize or to eat properly after receiving help/advice/information etc. I've seen some of these parents crying because their child REALLY WANTED the hamburgers/pizza/chocolate and how could anyone expect them to be so mean as to say no. It's sad really. Will the child go to a better home? Who can say? I certainly can't, however I don't think that the original home is a good environment either, not in that particular scenario.
