Hey Kathleen,

> don't ya just LOVE moving.

Yep .. always did. The best places are always the one you just left

and the one you are going to. ;-)

> When my father was in the airforce we moved quite a bit (about every 2.5

> years) and the stuff would just disappear.

I counted'em up and this will be my 33rd move .. my 14th overseas

move. My stuff just sorta disappered when I was in the military and

in corporate work .. but not into a black hole. They just came and

did their thing while I sat back and watched. Since retiring from

Uncle Sugar's Army and no longer working for a large company I have

made 3 in country moves on my own and they were not a big deal .. this

is the first overseas move I'll have to deal with on my own.

> came out either. Boxes of toys sometimes, sometimes clothes or dishes. I

didn't go

Lucky I was I reckon .. I lost maybe 3 or 4 pieces of furniture over

all those moves but never lost anything that was irreplaceable .. and

I was always well reimbursed for losses .. or even scratches on the

furniture.

Folks were mentioning having lost things and later finding them ..

when my mother died a few years back I gave most of her things that

had no emotional value to me to her friends but I kept her clothing

and as I was on emergency leave from a company at the time I was on a

schedule, so I boxed up all her papers and photos and such and shipped

them back to Turkey. Gave the clothes away little at a time to folks

who I thought could use them but I didn't open the boxes of papers and

documents. Around a year ago I opened them and one of the things I

found was my Baby Book .. entries starting from my birth and including

all those things like first step and first tooth and such. I didn't

even know it existed .. but its a valuable possession of mine now and

I can see through her writing that she was as kind and sweet back then

as she was all those years that I can remember her. :-)

Tanya keeps such a Baby Book on Alexander and I am sure that it will

be important to him some day.

> Good luck with the move, hope everything gets there and you manage to

> evade the Black Hole.

Thanks .. if I lose something I will be surprised because I am

shipping with a closed container .. after the Customs folks here get

through playing games it won't be opened again until the US Customs

folks get ready to play their games. ;-)
