Guest guest
Hey Chris, > Well, it appears that I have been roped and hog tied into this *lol* Yep .. and I salute you for picking up on the proper language to be used by a Suthran Gal in Texas. ;-) > My first suggestion would be, that unless this is to happen in a couple > weeks from now, or after November, we don't do it in Houston. I think that not having it in Houston is a good idea for sure. > From what I have heard San Antonio has more of that SW dry air climate, > so its a more pleasant kind of heat. Also its only about 3 hrs from me > .. so I vote for that! Yep .. me too. San Antonio has better seafood and better Tex-Mex food than does Houston .. and they got the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Dallas and El Paso are certainly not good options. And I see that you have already had a few volunteers to help out on the planning .. so in order for this to not become just a temporary thread on the list .. I recommend you decide who needs to get involved and set up a closed to discuss the planning. As everyone knows .. such shindigs need to be held when school is out and the later in the Summer the better .. and since this is already April and such .. things need to start coming together not later than six or seven weeks from now .. like by the latter part of May .. and when its recognized where decent but very reasonable accomodations are in San Antonio then folks need to get their reservations in order. During the past shindigs all the folks stayed at the same place and that was good because the nightly get togethers were as informative and a heckuva lot more fun than were the day meetings. In Albuquerque last year we stayed in what had once been an Artists Commune .. inside a walled villa .. had quarters that opened into a courtyard .. each place had a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room .. furnished with one needed except grub and a toddy. Breakfast was included and they had a nice community breakfast room. Each night we congregated at a gazebo in the courtyard, had a toddy or two and listened to Stacey Miller tell war stories and watched Kathleen chasing little black animals with a white stripe on their backs and big bushy tails. ;-) The place was cheap and two blocks from Old Town Albuquerque .. can't remember how much but it was not a per person type thing .. one or three folks cost the same .. and it was probably in the neighborhood of $60 - $70 .. I can't recall exactly. Folks on this list who think they might enjoy attending oughta come on out and say so on the list .. that gets the psychological ball in motion and that ain't bad. And Stacey Miller needs to get involved and when the time is right, announce it on her News Group. So .. what say y'all? > *Smile* > Chris (list mom) > http://www.alittleolfactory.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
Hey Butch, You and I had the same thought about the closed list. I had already sent her the suggestion with the offer to set it up if she wanted. And I wasn't CHASING b & W kitties, I very quietly sat and watched them... except for the time they came within a couple of feet of me, then I very quietly said something and very slowly moved my feet so they would know I was there. Last thing I wanted to do was scare them! LOL! I think Christina should also be contacted, she set up last years with Stacey and would have an awful lot of suggestions and good ideas to contribute.
