Guest guest
Hey y'all, Istanbul is an " exploding city " and is the stepchild of the modern, secular Turkish republic. Until WWI .. it was the seat of Islam. From 1979 - 1981, I lived right on the Bosphorus and the currents were such that ships hugged the shore on the side I lived on .. I could see the color of the eyes of Russian sailors as their ships passed along. My apartment was an entire floor of a 3 floor mansion on approximately 5 acres of land. The rent at that time was roughly $380 a month. The owner and I became friends and I went back to see the family in 1989. At that time, they were getting $1,500.00 for the same apartment. It is a great city to visit but I do NOT miss living in Istanbul! http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,477158,00.html Click on the Photo Gallery found below for a tour of the city. http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/0,5538,20827,00.html Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
