Guest guest
I'm getting about 20 of these a day too.....and I remember the same thing happening several years ago. This came down from Henriette's herb list yesterday and much as I'm not crazy about her, she makes far too much sense -------------------------- Somebody who actually works with herbal legislation commented on the FDA guidance fundraiser chain letter, sent to another list: " It is a lot of fuss over nothing. The person who sent it out is trying to promote her organization by creating hysteria, acting like a hero, and collecting donations. " and " It is simply a re-stating of existing regulations. They said that FDA has received thousands of emails, and they can't figure out what all the fuss is about. Nobody is going to lose access to herbs, vitamins, and minerals as a result of this document. " I have a dislike for hysterical fundraising missives. I picked up that dislike back in 1995 or so, when whatsisname Hammond did it every few months on alt.folklore.herbs, about that big bad wolf, the codex. (He probably made a very good living on it, too.) So. Whenever you get an email which basically says " The FDA/lawmaker/whoever is going to ban herbs/supplements/whatnots! Send $$$ to support our cause! " ... be sceptical, cynical and a bit less than gullible, mmmkay? It's an old old trick, even on the internet. Of course, what these sort of emails do is, they cry wolf too often. And that is bad for real honest vigilance. " -- Just think about it..........:-) Maureen The Herb Growing & Marketing Network PO Box 245, Silver Spring, PA 17575 717-393-3295; FAX: 717-393-9261 herbworld.com and herbnet.com ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
