Guest guest
I don’t think I’d tell a newbie soapmaker to use the tongue test. If by chance you’ve made really lye-heavy soap, you may burn the tip of your tongue. If you burn the tip of your tongue you will live. You are not going to lick the thing like a popsicle. Now, I’ve been making soap for years, and yes I have pH strips, and no I don’t use them much. I touch my tongue to the soap, and from that I know exactly how far I am from total saponification. You can’t tell me most soapers don’t do this. Dave " Don't be afraid to try new things. (disclaimer.-. DO NOT DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS. IF YOU DO THIS YOU ARE TAKING YOUR OWN TONGUE INTO YOUR OWN HANDS. YOU CAN SERIOUSLY BURN YOUR SELF IF YOU DO THIS. I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU DO THIS I DO THIS MYSELF ONLY BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I AM THE IDIOT WHO WILL BE BLAMED FOR HURTING MYSELF.) when you don't have ph test strips you can touch the tip of your tongue to it to see if it's hot... (I call it hot but it's more like a battery to tongue... I know you're not supposed to do that, but sometimes I have to do what I can till you get what you need.) Anyway. if it tingles on your tongue it's not ready. -- Version: 7.5.446 / Virus Database: 269.5.4/768 - Release 4/19/2007 5:32 AM Version: 7.5.463 / Virus Database: 269.5.5/769 - Release 4/19/2007 5:56 PM
