Guest guest
Marcia, you'd have to do a lot more than that to offend me. Regarding disposable diapers: I'm a grandmother -- pretty much beyond that myself. But when my son was born they didn't have disposable diapers. Regarding deforestation -- at least in the U.S. that's not a problem. The lumber/paper industry since before 1969 has done an excellent job of replanting and maintaining their forests -- in fact, we have more trees now than before. (Part of my honeymoon in 1969 was going to Oregon and seeing various lumber mills and a plywood mill in operation. They were well ahead of themselves in terms of keeping forests healthy and productive and keeping air pollution at a minumum. So anything you hear about this industry in the U.S. doing otherwise is pure hocum.) Gosh, I'd love a bidet ... but frankly, I struggle paying my taxes -- THAT for me would be a luxury. I can't imagine spending $16/day on latte's. I drink water. And Butch, yep -- my poor cows! They've gotten a lot of bad press lately. However, we let the girls up out of the pasture every so often so " mow " the areas around the house and barns -- saves us the price of gasoline and using the lawn mowers so often -- saves on that price of gas and emitting bad stuff in the air. (And my herb and flower gardens typically suffer because they just can't stand not getting in my yard and checking things out). So -- I think I've done a pretty good job of pulling an Al Gore Carbon Print offset. I shall continue purchasing toilet paper -- the good stuff, too -- my bum deserves the best. And I'm certainly spending less on it than $16/day on lattes. Dede
