It sounds like violets - but not knowing where you are, how big the flowers

are, how many petals, etc., etc., it's hard to say.

Image Google " sweet violet " and see if that is what you have.

Hi, there is a plant growing in my yard and I was wondering if it was

an herb or something I should be saving. It grows very low to the

ground with green heart shaped leaves and purple flowers. Does that

sound familiar?

It could be violets, but then most people know a violet when they

see one, so you'reless likely to ask...is it in sun or shade?

If shade, could it be wild ginger? If so, it is definitely worth keeping.

Google it.

********** Sounds like wild violets to me.

If so, they are pretty in a salad or floating in some iced tea and they make

tasty jelly.

To me it sounds like it could be Morning Glory, which will grow close tot he

ground till it finds a building to cover. Have attached a couple of pics for you

to see.

If you cant find them just do a google on Morning Glory and then select images.

You will soon see these heart shaped leaves and bright purple flowers.

The white is not a intrusive as the blue/purple.

Cheers

I looked at the pictures for morning glory and the flowers have

small individual petals. I think it looks more like the purple

flowers for wild violets. With all of the rain that we have been

getting they are all over the backyard and beautiful.

Thanks Ida, I looked up what hen bit and the flowers didn't look

like what is in my back yard. Thanks for taking the time to try to

help identify the plant. So far it looks like it is wild violets.

flowers have a stem that comes out of the ground
