Guest guest
Okay, this has been a crappy year (starting in August) health wise. I'm not talking about serious problems, just the minor crap, flu, colds, sore throats, UTI, conjunctivitis etc. It's my opinion that my immune system has taken a beating and needs a ramp-up. I would love some EASY suggestions on what one can do to get it back into the swing of things. I have the feeling that I'm not the only one in this particular boat, a lot of folk have been getting dragged down by the minor crap that's been floating around. It wou;ldn't be fun to be slammed by something major at this point, I'd probably cock up me toes! LOL!!! K -- Cheers! I simply know nothing better than the stuff I am selling. And you get to try it out for 90 days and get your money back if it doesn't agree with you. (those MLMs are so evil) I recommend a daily gram (or 2) of AFA, wild bluegreen algae a day. Easy, energizing, mood-boosting, proven to boost the functioning of the immune system and it takes the place of all other vitamins, minerals etc. Ignore the MLM factor, I know it is not your game. Email me privately if you have a remote interest. ienvan http://wildwholefoods.net
Guest guest
Forgive me if I am mistaking this for something else, but wasn't it blue green algae that kills. I am sure it was blue green algae that was in mussels I had at a Vietnamese restaurant. I was delirious within hours after doing things I don't remember and wouldn't want to remember according to the other dinner guests like I insisted we go nightclubbing and I took off my clothes. I woke up next day with a hangover I though. It got worse though and within days I had no muscle control and in lots of pain. We have water warnings around here telling us to keep away from water when it is infected with blue green algae. Is this somehow altered to remove the toxins or something? thanks from a DUMBO. - " Ieneke van Houten " <ienvan Sunday, April 29, 2007 5:26 AM Re: Immune system build up > Kathleen Petrides wrote: > > <It's my opinion that my immune system has taken a beating and needs a > ramp-up. Guest guest
Forgive me if I am mistaking this for something else, but wasn't it blue green algae that kills. [Dave:] There are many kinds of algae. The blue-green algae used for food are very beneficial, not harmful. Guest guest
Thank you. I will do a search now and learn a little eh, instead of asking silly questions. I had only thought of one blue green algae not realizing there are many although I know there are many algae's. Cheers. Guest guest
Sometimes the immune system reacts negatively to stress, resulting in illness, and that starts a cycle that spirals downward. So, first look at your stress levels. Are there things that would help that? Maybe Yoga, walking, something simple like that? Some herbs that help are Siberian Ginseng, good ol' Echinacea, and Astragalus. A good multi-vitamin is a good idea, too. Guest guest
Sometimes the immune system reacts negatively to stress, resulting in illness, and that starts a cycle that spirals downward. So, first look at your stress levels. ¶ [Dave:] This is a great insight. We all want to be capable, and we internalize a lot of stress. It doesn’t just disappear when we do this; it is corrosive. For what it’s worth, here are some ways that work for me to reduce stress: Breathing exercises. Filling your mind with nothing but the awareness of your breathing is a great way to go inside and find calm. There are various yoga techniques and other less formal ones. Exercise. Bike riding and hiking do it for me. Exercise releases endorphins and actually increases your energy level and feeling of well-being. I hike at a nearby nature preserve. I walk about six miles a day at work, and am trying to add a minimum of 10-12 miles of hiking per week. If all you can do is leg lifts or lifting a book, do it regularly and it will pay off. Prayer. It doesn’t have to be formal. The Lord’s Prayer is one of the most profound ever revealed. There are many prayers for detachment in the Baha’i Faith. Simply composing your spirit to a few moments of supplication and communion with Higher Intelligence, the Great Spirit, Goddess (God has no gender), whatever works for you – can have a wonderful effect. Gardening. I have only a 12’ x 12’ patio, and I have made it my sanctuary. When my wife was so badly disabled that I was unable to go anywhere, I made it a regular practice to step outside and work or just sit among my plants. In fact, I specifically chose this apartment because it is the only one in the complex with a patch of lawn just out back like a private park. The patio is surrounded by lattice and has a fountain along with a varying population of 80-100 plants. Mostly tropicals, I have two palm trees and a banana tree, hanging baskets, and potted hybrid geraniums that bloom most of the year. It’s a jungle, and tending it relaxes and soothes my mind. One of the things I like to do with potted shrubs is to train them bonsai-style and use the pots to create tiny landscapes. Music. I like to write music as well as play it. I’m not very good but that’s not the point. Pick up an easy instrument like a mountain dulcimer and learn to strum. It’s good medicine. Laughter. I almost forgot! Smiling becomes a habit. Laughter should flow freely. I’ve found that in the very worst of circumstances (and I have slogged through some of hell’s suburbs) there is still a wellspring of joy inside. If you project happiness, you will feel happiness. Help others. It’s amazing how this reels us back into the real world and gets our mind off our inner struggles. I once had a dear friend who was a minister. She used to say, “When life seems impossible, go scrub someone’s floor.” It took me a while to understand what she meant and just how true it is. These are just my ways, there are endless others. Stress absolutely plays a role in our health, and it goes without saying too that aromatherapy is part of dealing with it. For those who are suffering with chronic illness, I can’t overemphasize the importance of talking with a naturopath at least a few times to get a picture of how the body really works, and finding ways to deal with stress. There is no magic bullet, but the good Lord has given us tools. We do however have to pick them up and use them. Guest guest
Thanks Paula. Speaking of asking, I wrote our water supplier yesterday to ask why our water if turning to jelly/slime within hours of coming from the tap, even with detergents. They are coming to do a water quality check, they seemed alarmed.
