Guest guest
Hey Dede .. other good folks .. > This is what concerns me about people panicking over global warming. > Now, my comments have nothing to do about whether it's real or not; nor > whether if it IS real, if it is the result of man's actions. We don't know whether mankind's contribution to Global Warming is real or not .. that is a fact! > My concern has been the taxation of the issue to " take care of things " , > including - heaven forbid, a global tax. Yep .. a valid concern that is since it would be a voluntary thing. And we should not expect some countries to go along with it. But also .. this is an EU/UN thing .. this UN carbon trading and UK carbon credits idea is not something the US is likely to buy into .. because the US public would be up in arms. We can count on the EU and UN to come up with many plans that are ridiculous knee jerk actions. The UN has no credibility in most matters .. and the EU is willing to experiment with any new idea that will support their postions on many subjects .. at the expense of their own survival .. which (in my less than humble opinion) is most unlikely in the first place. Remember .. the Liberals claim (not without some justification) that the concept of Global Warming has been disregarded by the present gummit of the USA. I think they are right .. it was only after it was crammed down their throats that they began to pay attention to it .. and now it has become almost a Sacred Cow .. like Destruction of Rainforests and such. Remember .. both sides of the isle have their vested interests and those interests are not unknown to those who understand the basic platforms of various political parties. The Republicans have theirs and the Democrats have theirs .. and the various parties in the UK and other European countries are just as predictable. > Now, here's an article by the Financial Times, reputable outfit. They > are essentially saying that all this carbon trading stuff is not just a > scam, but a government-sponsored scam. Financial Times is embellishing a bit .. but they are not too far off. But remember .. its not the US Gummit that they write of. > Why am I not surprised? Once again, how all of this is approached is > very important and should not be rushed into -- if we do indeed invest > dollars, we need to make sure they are going towards something that is > real. Healthy skepticism is in order. You should be surprised if the US Gummit bought off on it .. the EU plans to Harmonize and Globalize many things but its not likely the US politicians (even the Democrats) will go along with it. Harmonization and Globalization are designed to eliminate Nationalism and Autonomy. The problem is that the EU confuses Patriotism with Nationalism. We know that elimination of Autonomy is an ongoing thing in the EU now .. its basic to the very existence of the EU. No longer will there be Brits or Germans, etc., they will all be good little Europeans. I believe that the idea of an EC/EU is a good plan gone bad! Security was the initial dream of Winston Churchill .. and I believe that the plan has worked in that regard. But then it evolved into a race for political, economic and military balance with the United States of America .. with a United States of Europe. That too is not so bad if one is a European .. I would buy into it if I were, but I would not be waiting for the various countries to homogeniz anymore than I would expect to teach a lion to eat corn and a cow to eat meat. But then they got off the realistic agenda and began trying to create a Utopia ruled by the elite .. by enveloping all the European Nations into a common family .. called Europeans .. and then they started using " so-called " expert comittees on various subjects, comittees that operated in a hypothetical vaccum, to dictate rules for the daily living of this group of " Europeans " .. witness .. the efforts to control use of natural remedies .. even vitamins .. and many other standard rules for nonstandard populations. They have gone too far. My watering hole here is a magnet for foreigners .. weekly I drink with Germans, Brits, Italians, French folks and such .. all business folks they are .. and lemme tell y'all that I have yet to meet one who has nice things to say about the EU. It weakens even now and it will fold up and die on the vine in time. Many of the reforms that came about during their failed attempt to create this " perfect union " will stay in place .. and that is not bad because many of them were truly worthy. As for the need for skepticism of efforts to combat Global Warming .. see my next post. > http://www.ft.com/cms/s/99ce494e-f45b-11db-88aa-000b5df10621.html > > Dede Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
